UPDATE NOV 11, 2019
We previously told you that a favorite Bryant restaurant will soon open a second location in Benton. It’s been a few months in the making, but I talked to Yum Yum Benton owner Garner Mitchell late Sunday and it is apparently opening very soon.
“If everything goes as planned, we will have our grand opening this coming Friday the 15th,” stated Mitchell.
That’s Friday, November 15th, 2019. Read more below and see photos, as well as related articles from the archive.
UPDATED (ORIGINAL OCT 3, 2019 4:23PM)
Locals will recognize this property at 520 Lillian Street as the former home of Sullivan’s Diner that had been there for several years. That diner was forced to close in February 2019, due to a health issue with one of the owners.
I spoke with a couple of businesses who said they hoped to get the property, but it was the eventually the owner of another restaurant – Yum Yum Hibachi Express in Bryant – who told me in July that he was renovating the property before doing anything with it.
Time flies… and this week, if you drove by, you likely saw new signs up, making it clear that Yum Yum Hibachi Express would indeed open there. Owner Garner Mitchell said they don’t have a solid opening date but they are shooting for the end of October.
Fans of the Bryant location will be happy to hear that it will stay. You can expect the same menu and hours as the Reynolds Road location. Mitchell said they have added a large walk-in cooler and freezer to the back of the Benton property.
“We really appreciate our customers taking the time to write reviews and recommendations,” stated Mitchell. “We are so excited to be expanding to Benton and look forward to serving our food in the community.”
