According to Arkansas Game & Fish Commission (AGFC), this Youth Modern Gun Deer Hunt will be for all zones.
All youth hunters must have a customer ID. It is free and can be obtained through www.agfc.com. Only hunters ages 6-15 years old may harvest deer during the special youth modern gun deer hunt.
Youths who have not completed hunter education must be under the direct supervision of an adult at least 21 years old.
Mentors may not hunt any species during the hunt. All zone bag limits apply during the youth hunt. No dogs are allowed to be used during this hunt. “Direct Supervision” is defined as within arm’s reach.
Exceptions:
- Bowhunters may hunt during the youth hunt, but must wear hunter orange or chartreuse.
- Some WMAs have permit-based youth seasons, or are otherwise closed to deer hunting during youth season. Check pages 78-126 in the hunting guidebook: https://bit.ly/3ufJRdt
