The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission (AGFC) held a Youth Modern Gun Deer Hunt over the Nov 6th weekend and some local kids understood the assignment. AGFC says thousands of kids participated across Arkansas. The following is a gallery of local kids with the results of their hunt!

Hunter Oates, age 12 from Alexander, 7th grader at Bethel. Shot with a .243 rifle the second day of the youth hunt, Sunday Nov. 7 at 9:40am on a private lease near Bauxite, AR, with his grandpa Louis Oates and dad Chase Oates.

Josiah Stovall, age 6 of Bauxite. On a friend’s property just past Riverside on Hwy 5. His dad (pictured right) is Andrew Stovall. The 5-point just after sunset and 20 minutes later, the 8-point walked out. He got them both in Saline County, Highway 5 S.

Bradley Henry, age 14, of Benton, attends Benton Junior High. Both deer were from Sunday Nov. 7th in Garland County with his Uncle Shawn (Miller) also from Benton.

Drake Castillo, 7 years old, of Benton got this deer Saturday, Nov 6th. This was his first youth hunt. It was in Saline county – one buck morning hunt (his first) and a buck in the afternoon hunt.

Easton Martin, age 9 got his first deer, 5 points, in his back yard on Sunday afternoon. He was with his dad Aaron Martin.

Gracie Fowler, age 9, of Mabelvale got her first deer. This button buck was in Grant County, Zone 12.

Cody Roberts, 9 years old, of Haskell, got this 7-point the morning of opening day youth hunt in Saline County.

Addisyn Chism, age 14 of Benton go this 9-point on Nov 7th while hunting with her Aunt Sarah in Jefferson County.

Brantley Barker, age 6 of Benton, got this 8-point with his dad in Lonsdale on Saturday morning Nov 6th.

Cru Mac Billins of Bryant got a 7-point Saturday morning Nov 6th in South Arkansas with his dad Justin.

All zones: Jan 1-2, 2022. All youth hunters must have a FREE customer ID. Only hunters 6-15 years old may harvest deer during the special youth modern gun deer hunt. Youths who have not completed hunter education must be under the direct supervision of an adult at least 21 years old. Mentors may not hunt any species during the hunt. All zone bag limits apply during the youth hunt.
No dogs. “Direct Supervision” is defined as within arm’s reach.
Exceptions:
- Bowhunters may hunt during the youth hunt, but must wear hunter orange or chartreuse.
- Some WMAs have permit-based youth seasons, or are otherwise closed to deer hunting during youth season. Check pages 78-126 in the hunting guidebook: https://bit.ly/3ufJRdt
