UPDATE MAY 14, 2020
We are sad and it’s a hot mess but Yard Wars is officially cancelled. If you signed up as a vendor but you didn’t get the email we sent out, email us! [email protected]
UPDATE APRIL 15, 2020:
The original date for Yard Wars is a month away, and so we have to give an update.
We have waited and watched the pandemic news and the numbers, and mulled it over to decide what to do about Yard Wars. It was originally scheduled for May 16th, and we still don’t know what the pandemic is going to look like at that point.
We want our vendors to make money and we want our shoppers to get a quality shopping experience – and moreover, we want to be able to give a large sum to the Backpack Ministry to feed kids that might not get fed outside of school. The public became acutely more aware of that fact after physical school attendance ended on March 12th.
So the main juxtaposition here is balancing 1.) potential success for an event with 2.) potential risk of compromising safety. With that in mind, it has become clear that Yard Wars won’t happen on May 16th. It’s not right to promote it at this time, and actually seems disrespectful to do so.
The next question is – will it be postponed, or rescheduled, or is there some other creative solution? We are in the process of looking at options and we are open to suggestions at [email protected].
As usual, watch MySaline and its social media for updates, as well as the social media channels for Yard Wars. Thank you for your patience. – Shelli
UPDATE MARCH 20, 2020:
Since the Yard Wars date of May 16th is just outside of the government’s current guidelines (of 8 weeks without gatherings of 50 or more), we are going to wait a little while longer to make a decision on whether to reschedule. We’ll update on the web page and all our social media if we have made a decision to change it. Thanks for your patience! Email us with any questions at [email protected]. -Shelli

It’s the 10th year for Yard Wars, and we’re taking it up a notch! This is the first year for Yard Wars to be indoors. For shoppers and vendors, that means no worries with tents?, rain,? wind,? ants,? sunburns,? and there will even be air conditioning❄ and wifi!?
WHEN/WHERE
The event is on Saturday May 16th, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The location will be The Osage Event Venue at 1110 Ferguson Drive in Benton (formerly the Sears store).
WHY/WHAT
Shelli Poole started this event in 2011. Yard Wars started small, as a way to raise funds to donate to the Backpack Ministry that gives food to kids who don’t usually eat outside of school. Although the first year had just yard sales, it has grown to include crafters & makers, boutique sales, concessions and other vendors.
TICKETS
Shopper admission at the door this year will be $1.00 OR one item from the Backpack Ministry food list. This sale attracts hundreds of shoppers every year.
