SPRINGFIELD, MO. – The Central Arkansas Soccer Club ’08 Wildcats tallied three clean sheets this weekend, capturing the Lake Country Soccer Fall Classic U13 championship on Sunday. The Wildcats did not allow a shot on goal in two of their three matches. The back four features fullbacks Bethany Arbeene and Tatum Lewis and centerbacks Lydia Hall and Presley McNab.
Central Arkansas opened on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Southwest Missouri Rush Azul. Goalkeeper Toni Williams shined with seven saves. Midfielder Brooke Fluger’s goal in the first half proved to be the difference. She found the back of the net off a rebound from a shot placed by winger Carys Williams.
The Wildcats then defeated FC Arkansas (Fayetteville) 6-0 to wrap up their Saturday slate. Nine different players put at least one shot on goal. Fluger paced Central Arkansas with two goals. Arbeene and Carys Williams each scored once and assisted on a goal. Midfielder Brooklyn Kuchinski recorded a goal, while winger Lexi Pasierb scored on a penalty kick.
On Sunday, the Wildcats finished with a 2-0 win over Rush Cinza. Carys Williams found Fluger in the box for the first goal, and Kuchinski sealed the victory in the second half with an assist from winger Lilli Spivey. Fluger recorded a team-high eight points (four goals) in the tournament, while Kuchinksi (two goals) and Carys Williams (one goal, two assists) each collected four points.
Central Arkansas, coached by Julie Fluger, improved to 8-1-2 overall this fall. The Wildcats, a member of the Arkansas Competitive Soccer League, will play host to Texarkana and Fayetteville on Saturday, Oct. 17th for a pair of league matches. The team travels to Memphis in two weeks to play in the Wolf River Classic.
