According to a spokesperson from District 6 of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD), the widening project on Highway 5 North, from Reynolds Road to Alcoa Road is scheduled to begin construction next Fall. This project was originally set to start Summer 2016. It has been funded, but due to unforeseen circumstances in acquiring right of way, the utilities work could not start on schedule.
You will notice that there is a lot of tree felling going on in the area. The beautiful sycamore near Bryant Polaris ATV is almost down. All of its limbs were gone as I passed by today. There was just a pole left over – brown on the bottom and white bark up top. A few weeks ago, the clump of mostly pine trees across from Larry’s Pizza disappeared.
After all the trees are cut, the power poles will be moved along with other utilities. By August 2017 you should see road construction.
