Author: Paul Holes, Jim Clemente, Peter McDonnell

My Rating: 5 Creepy Stars
Y’all, by now it’s established that I’m a true crime addict. And retired detective, Paul Holes, is one of my true crime heroes! Last year Joseph James DeAngelo was arrested for a laundry list of crimes including rape and murder between 1976 and 1986. Paul Holes was one of MANY law enforcement officers who worked tirelessly to catch the elusive “Golden State Killer.” You may have seen an HBO documentary about this case last year called “I’ll Be Gone in the Dark.” So, when I saw this audiobook I knew I had to listen!
It’s only a little over 6 hours long, so you could finish it in a day or over a weekend. And it doesn’t sound like an audiobook, it really sounds more like a podcast. There are interviews and discussions, it’s very conversational and interesting. I enjoyed learning new details that I didn’t learn from “I’ll Be Gone in the Dark.” And I already listen to another true crime podcast featuring Paul Holes, so I already loved hearing him.
If you’re a fan of true crime, if you watched or read “I’ll Be Gone in the Dark,” or if you have at all tried to follow the Golden State Killer case, I highly recommend this audiobook! Now, it is TRUE CRIME…so there are details and descriptions of the crimes that DeAngelo committed (which are all awful). So, if you aren’t into that kind of thing, this probably isn’t for you. However, if you’re like me and never met a true crime doc you didn’t like, find Evil Has a Name on Audible and enjoy!
