The City of Alexander will hold a special election on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, to ask voters for a 1¢ (one cent) increase in sales tax for general city use. There is currently a 2¢ (two-cent) sales tax in the city limits, to be used only for public safety and parks.
Voters in the Alexander city limits are divided into two counties – Saline and Pulaski. This means there will be separate voting polls, hours and days for the election, as well as two result subtotals to combine for the final result.

The Ballot Issue Explained:
A ONE PERCENT (1.0%) SALES AND USE TAX FOR THE PURPOSES OF THE GENERAL OPERATIONS OF THE CITY
The Alexander City Council passed Ordinance 017-21-8-A of 2017 calling for a special election to determine whether or not to create a one percent (1.0%) sales and use tax, in addition to the sales and use taxes which are levied within the City from time to time. If passed, the net collections of the sales and use tax after the deduction of administrative charges of the State of Arkansas, will be used for the following:
100% of the net collections shall be placed in the General Fund of the City and used for the general operations of the City.
