Do you ever finally take action?? You may not frequent Vimy Ridge Rd., but we do. It is narrow with deep ditches on both sides. BUT… it also has several concrete curb-like areas at the valley of the hills where drainage pipes run under the road. Weed growth obscures them. Some of the warning signs that are supposed to be immediately in front of the concrete areas have been missing for the longest.
I know of one car that hit it well over a year ago and bent something so the wheel listed a few degrees. That car was traded in at a loss on a newer one. Last Sunday morning near one of the valleys there was a car in the ditch with police cars guarding it until the wrecker could arrive. I surmised that it was from the lack of a marker.
I took it upon myself as a challenge to see if I could find the right person in the City of Little Rock to try to get this problem solved. Some time ago we dialed 311 as it says on their city garbage trucks. I saw no change.
I googled City of Little Rock Street Department. It gave me Public Works. The nicest lady named Sue answered the phone and took my call seriously. By afternoon, I had forgotten she had promised to call me back and report on her progress. She indeed did call back and told me that she found out those little yellow and black signs are called “deliminators” and that someone from the street department would go out and see how many are needed and take care of the problem. She thought it was funny when I told her my husband called them Popsicle signs. Counting down the days until it is done.
