There’s a new business moving into the former grocery store in the south part of Benton. At the end of 2019 when we heard the Sav-a-Lot Food Store at 1316 Edison Avenue in Benton would be going out of business, there was no news to tell about who would occupy that building next. And there wouldn’t be news for many months.
Saline County real estate records show that local investor Mark Carter bought the property in September 2020 for $160,000 and put it up for lease. A few months later, mother/daughter partners Tamara King and Kathy Cash decided it would be a good spot for the second location of their flea market Vintage Decor. The first location has been in East End for years. This second one will be called Vintage Decor Too.
It’s truly a family business, as King said her daughter and son will be working at the one in Benton. They have all been hard at work fixing the place up for the last month and they have already have vendors moving merchandise into their booths. She said even if you’re not from the area, this building will be easy to spot, because they have plans to place a bright yellow one-passenger airplane on the roof.
King said they will have a soft opening on Thursday, April 1st and will have plans for a grand opening in the near future. They will be open 7 days. For more info, you can call 501-690-0406 or go to their Facebook page.
