First off, can I please lament that no one can agree on how to spell cancelled/canceled? Every time we have inclement winter weather, it’s a conundrum. So I have resolved to spell it with 3 Ls.
Nextly, there has been a lot of rain. Those in charge of Third Thursday at the City of Benton say they consulted those responsible for the Saline County Courthouse grounds on whether it would be safe to proceed with the popular street festival for April. They came to the conclusion that it would be better for everyone’s safety if they cancellled the event this month.
The next event will be May 18th. See the flyer below and see more events in the list at www.mysaline.com/events.
Just as I was about to remind everyone to gear up for the first Third Thursday event of 2023 in Downtown Benton, I remembered there’s bad weather in the forecast for that day. But hold on a sec because Matt Thibault at the City of Benton said they have a plan.
Who’s ready for Third Thursday on a 4th Thursday?? The City has moved the band, the food trucks vendors, and everything else to Thursday April 27th. Come out to downtown Benton on Main and Sevier Streets for all the fun. There will also be an updated Kids Zone.
Here’s the list of musical artists booked for this season’s Third Thursday events:
April kicks off with The Legendary Pacers. They were a crowd favorite last year so we open the season with them again this year. Swing and dance the night away.
May brings us our first ACMA artist of the season. The 2019 ACMA Young Artist of the year Bree Ogden. Her fiery style of music and stage performance will keep you on your feet all night long. No need for a lawn chair this night!
June brings Hillestad to the stage from Hot Springs. This gritty delta blues sound will have you remembering all those nights in the Smokey bars. Janice Joplin in the house in June.
July is toasty so why not put a little Huckleberry Jam on it. ACMA nominated for group of the year their traditional country will keep you cool on this hot summer night.
August brings us The Brian Nahlen band down from North Little Rock. The eclectic mix of rock, funk and smooth ballads will have you looking for him all over town just to hear it again.
Have you ever heard a band and said I wish I had heard them before they were big time? Well here is your shot because we close out the summer in September with Tyler Kinch. ACMA nominated for artist of the year in 2022 and the sky is the limit for him and his Band. Bring a friend and cell phone to show you were here.
