Three of My Favorite Literary Moms
1. Molly Weasley – Harry Potter by JK Rowling
Molly is the ultimate mom! She’s got a million kids, so she’s a professional. And she’s mastered the balance of nurturing mom and protective mama bear. Not to mention she’s one of those moms that adopts her children’s friends as her own. Most of us can remember having a bonus mom like that at some point in our lives.
2. Jennifer Honey – Matilda by Roald Dahl
It’s an unconventional pick for this list, but Miss Honey is totally #momgoals. By the end of the book she becomes Matilda’s adopted mom. She’s a constant encourager, and she’s not afraid to help Matilda work through trauma. As an adoptive mom myself, I know that it’s a not an easy task. Miss Honey is one of my favorite book moms!
3. Patricia Noah – Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
Okay, maybe this one doesn’t count because this is a biography and she’s a real life mom. BUT, hear me out, Trevor Noah’s mom is a rockstar. Raising her son, who was literally born a crime in South Africa took a massive amount of strength. From reading the book, she’s obviously tough and determined. The kind of mom that doesn’t put up with anything.
Happy Mother’s Day from the Bookworm Diaries! Whether you’re the mom that adopts all the kids in your neighborhood, the super caring and encouraging mom, or the tough and determined mom, you’re doing a great job!
