I unfortunately have to report that a wonderful little family restaurant in Benton will be no more. Sullivan’s Diner is known for its American fare, but more so for its authentic Thai food.
Husband and wife owners Ernie and Dang Sullivan have run their restaurant at 520 Lillian Street for several years. They closed temporarily for a holiday break at the beginning of January, then shortly after returning to work, Mrs. Sullivan was hospitalized. Initial notice on the diner’s Facebook page February 8th said only that she was very sick and they would be closed indefinitely. Then on February 13th, there was a follow-up explaining that she had suffered a stroke and is paralyzed on her left side.
Sullivan’s has been featured in Rock City Eats, The Mighty Rib, LR Foodcast, Arkansas Times, Arkansas Foodies Blog, and of course MySaline.com (links below).
On a personal note, I’ve eaten there a few times and loved the food, the small-town diner atmosphere, and this great couple running it. I hope for a full recovery for Mrs. Sullivan.
