We’re coming to the end of a nasty chapter, with Bruce Pennington receiving his final sentencing for crimes committed while he held the office of Sheriff in Saline County.
I suggest for backstory that you read former blogs about Pennington’s arrest on July 29, 2013 and the investigation that stemmed from it. Then his resignation, then his extended resignation and then… his decision to not resign at all and to run for Sheriff again.
On Monday, December 7, 2015
- Pennington entered a “guilty” plea in Federal court
- and got a Federal sentence for wire fraud
- for one year and one day Federal prison,
- three years of probation
- and $2,500 fine.
On Tuesday, March 29, 2016
- Pennington entered a “guilty” plea in Saline County Circuit Court
- and got a State sentence for felony charges of abuse of trust and theft of property
- for eight months concurrent with Federal prison time,
- 60 months of suspended release
- and to pay restitution of $2,614.46.
