With around 315 stores in 20 states, it’s a company that has been growing exponentially in the past few years. But SQRL Holdings agreed to sell its convenience stores, to a fairly new company – Gas Hub Investments LLC, in Baton Rouge, LA, according to C-Store Dive.
The reason for the sale was “significant liquidity issues,” as detailed in an email to store managers. The plan seems to be keeping the stores in place and eventually reopening them, or at least some of them. All of the details have yet to come to light. They are still negotiating the particulars as of this writing.
The first SQRL store was opened in Little Rock, Arkansas in 2013. The letters in SQRL stand for Service, Quality, Relationships, and Loyalty. The company had a mission to revolutionize the convenience store industry by offering a variety of food, high quality fuel, and locally-sourced products.
There are currently 50 SQRL convenience stores in Arkansas, and five in Saline County. Watch MySaline for updates.
