October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Saline County Community Coalition (SCCC) will begin a three-month campaign to spread a message of kindness and compassion.
Psychology Today reports “Kindness has been found by researchers to be the most important predictor of satisfaction and stability in a marriage.”
Try these three ways to practice kindness:
- Be open to your surroundings and act to the needs of others.
- Be willing to full-heartedly celebrate the successes of others.
- Be gentle in words and actions as to reality.
During October through December, seek to complete Simple Acts of Kindness with the reward being self appreciated.
There will be communications through social media, school and church as well as family driven idea generated discussions.
Finally, there is a SAK Walk on Dec. 31st, wherever you are, and at the time of your choice. Just decorate a hat or cap with “SAK” and walk.
Take friends with you and if asked, say you’re walking for “Simple Acts of Kindness.”
