A woman has turned herself in for the shooting of two adults at Tyndall Park in Benton.
Benton Police Department responded to Tyndall Park on the evening of September 20th for reports of shots fired. This incident followed a disturbance at the east entrance of the park among several individuals. The two injured victims went to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.
Tonya Richard, age 49, of Benton, turned herself in October 7th on the warrant after from this incident. She was charged with two counts of First Degree Battery, a Class B felony. Following the investigation, it is believed the involved parties knew each other and this was a targeted and isolated incident.

Officers from the Benton Police Department responded to Tyndall Park just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2022, for reports of shots fired. This stemmed from a disturbance at the east entrance of the park among several individuals.
Officers made contact with those suspected to be involved in the incident, and it is believed to be an isolated incident with no threat to the public at this time.
Two adult victims suffered injuries and were transported for treatment. The BNPD Criminal Investigations Division has assumed the investigation, which remains ongoing. More information may be released as it becomes available.
