Update: March 18, 2017
Much like the Arkansas Razorbacks rallied and spit fire on Sunday night against the North Carolina Tarheels… our contender for the World Championship from Shannon Hills, Kim Connor-Hamby, did her very best but couldn’t get the calls in the opponent’s back yard. The community is very proud of Connor-Hamby nonetheless. She lost by one or two points in the end. I don’t know what you’re doing on Saturday night, but wayyy down in Argentina, a Shannon Hills resident will be fighting for the World Championship in the International Boxing Federation. That’s cool enough all by itself, but our contender is a female and a mom. Kim Connor-Hamby has been training for this for years to come to this level, but she didn’t always have the goal of fighting people.
According to Kim, she was fit before having children, but wanted to get back into shape afterward. It’s amazing the ride she has taken, and even moreso that her own motivation and is the motor. Kim will face Victoria Bustos in the IBF Lightweight Division (under 135 pounds). We hope to be able to watch the fight online on Saturday. Details will be on Kim’s Facebook page.
