In this Crime Summary from Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) in Benton, Arkansas they reported the following recent incidents:
Possession of a Controlled Substance // W Fairview //
Deputies conducted a traffic stop due to the driver having an active warrant out of SCSO. The vehicle accelerated approximately 1⁄4 mile before coming to a stop in a driveway.
Contact was made with the driver, Bradley Wells (W/M) after he quickly exited the vehicle. He was detained until confirmation of the warrant, and discovered to have a search waiver on file. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of Sch I or II, and Sch VI narcotics. Wells was arrested and charged as follows:
- POSSESS CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE SCH I, II
- POSSESS CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE SCH VI
- FLEEING (ON FOOT) – MISDEMEANOR
- RESISTING ARREST – MISDEMEANOR
- NON SUPPORT
DWI-Drugs Accident//Hwy 5 & Riverside Drive//
Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident. Robert Robbins (W/M) showed signs of impairment while on-scene.
Robbins was transported for a DRE Evaluation. Robbins was charged with D.W.I. and booked at the Saline County Detention Center for the following:
- DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED DRUGS – FIRST OFFENSE – MISDEMEANOR
- CARELESS/NEGLIGENT DRIVING
- No Proof of Insurance (First or Second Offense) – Class U – V
DWI/Reckless Driver//Hwy 70 Valero//
Deputy made contact with Leticia Zepeda (H/F) after an off duty LRPD officer called in about her driving reckless. Zepeda gave a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT), which showed she was over the legal limit and was intoxicated. Zepeda was cited and released to a family member from the SCSO.
Motor Vehicle Theft//7515 W Sawmill//
A woman reported that someone stole her 2001 Blue Chevrolet Tahoe on July 7, 2022. No suspect at this time. The vehicle was entered into ACIC as stolen.
Endangering the Welfare of a Minor//22025 Chicot Road//
Sally Mayfield (W/F) was taken into custody after admitting to using narcotics in front of her juvenile children. DHS was contacted and responded to the scene. She was arrested and charged with the following:
- ENDANGERING WELFARE OF INCOMPETENT PERSON IN THE SECOND DEGREE – MISDEMEAN
- ENDANGERING WELFARE OF INCOMPETENT PERSON IN THE SECOND DEGREE – MISDEMEAN
Traffic Stop//Chicot Road//
Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Civic for expired tags. Drug Paraphernalia was observed by deputies on scene. Cheyenne Lancaster (W/F) was arrested and charged with the following:
- POSSESS CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE SCH I, II
- POSSESS CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE SCH I, II
- POSSESSION DRUG PARAPERNALIA D FELONY
Lost Juvenile // W. Fairview //
Deputies responded to the location in regards to a found juvenile. A male resident reported his son came inside saying there was a little girl coming over the hill behind the house.
Mr. Wilcox advised the Juvenile told them she was chasing her dog through the woods and got lost. Contact was made with the juveniles’ grandparents and the child was released to the grandparents.
Near Drowning // Davenport Rd //
Deputies responded to the locations in regards to a possible drowning. A man reported his four-year-old son was playing in the Saline River when some other kids yelled that something was wrong with his son.
James ran over to his son and pulled him out of the water. The boy was turning purple and not breathing. The boy was alert and breathing when Pafford EMS arrived. The child was transported to Children’s Hospital for a check out. Note from Sheriff’s Office – Thank goodness the father was there and watching the children.
Accident/Recovered Property // Dogwood Tr //
Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident. A Kia Telluride was located wrecked in the woods near Chicot.
It was later discovered the vehicle had been stolen from Stan Cove by a 15-year-old female. The report will be forwarded to the juvenile office so the juvenile can be charged.
Disturbance// Diamond Hills Cove//
Deputies responded to this an address in reference to a physical disturbance. When deputies arrived on the scene, they made contact with a woman that advised she and her daughter, had gotten into a fight. The daughter left the scene prior to the Deputies’ arrival, however, she met at the Big Red Valero to give her statement. Both individuals had physical injuries and were taken into custody and charged accordingly.
Breaking or Entering// Kamden Cove//
A man reported that sometime between 4:00 and 5:00 am on July 7, 2022, an unknown male wearing a mask and gloves entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his SIG P365.
The firearm was entered into ACIC. Please don’t leave your firearms in the car.
Breaking or Entering, Theft of Property//N. Silverthorne Dr//
A man reported sometime between the night prior around 10:45 pm to 5:15 am, an unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his black Walther CCP 9mm, a leather wallet, driver’s license and credit cards.
A relative at the address also reported his vehicle which was unlocked was also entered and the unknown suspect(s) stole his G19 Gen 5 9mm out of the console.
Firearms were entered into ACIC. Again please do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
