The Saline County Sheriff’s Office has taken reports of a telephone scam that is prevalent in the area. Many residents of Saline County have been receiving threatening telephone calls from individuals posing deputies of the Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO). The callers typically inform victims that they have warrants for their arrest, or that they owe fines, and that they must immediately pay by purchasing a pre-paid debit card – or risk being arrested.
“SCSO deputies will never contact you by telephone to demand payment for any type of fine or to prevent being arrested,” Sheriff Rodney Wright.
The SCSO Criminal Investigation Division is actively investigating these calls. If you receive one of these calls, DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION over the telephone. Immediately contact the SCSO or your local law enforcement agency to report the incident. The SCSO non-emergency dispatch telephone number is 501-303-5647.
