I heard this morning about a Saline County man who was headed down to Louisiana to help with security during this time of flooding. Sgt. Paul Viner of the Saline County Sheriff’s Office said that Reserve Deputy Dwight McInturff volunteered his own time to go to Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office to help with traffic and patrol. The Sheriff there sent out a request for help and McInturff received permission from our Sheriff, Rodney Wright, to go.
McInturff left late Thursday afternoon and plans to be there until Sunday night. There is reportedly no place for the extra security to stay, so they are bedding down in the floor at the courthouse and working 12-hour shifts when they are not resting.
Viner said that as a Reserve Deputy, McInturff is volunteering his time anyway, and gives about 700 hours per year for Saline County.
