The Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) has seen enough rescue missions to know that swimming in a blue hole should never happen. One rescue mission is enough, and first responders experienced a failed mission just last year. A blue hole is a deep, water-filled hole left from mining. They are unstable and very dangerous for even the best swimmers. They are also on private property around Saline County.
Part of the SCSO’s statement says, “If called to swimmers in these “Blue Holes”, the SCSO will have a zero-tolerance policy. The intent of the SCSO in arresting, citing or warning trespassers is based 100% on keeping the violators safe.”
