With the help of a School Resource Officer (SRO) and private funding, the Bauxite High School swim team got new uniforms and equipment. On Thursday, January 17th, swim coach Dave Carter accepted the gift on behalf of his team.
Deputy Jennifer Tarvin, an SRO from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, noticed that the swim team didn’t have funding to purchase matching team uniforms or other basic equipment such as coolers and towels. She formed partnership with SCSO Dep. Chris Webb to raise private money to purchase the items. The two deputies raised over $1,000.00 in donations.
Swim team members each received matching uniforms with their name on them, along with towels and equipment bags with the team logo. Coach Carter thanked the deputies for their help in acquiring the equipment.
Chief Deputy Jay Fitzpatrick, who also attended the presentation, stated “The effort put forth in supplying the Bauxite Swim Team with new swimming apparel is partnership at its best. This effort is also an excellent example of the positive impact the police and the community can have when we work as one to make a difference.”
