The Saline County Library is hosting their second annual comic con, or SCL Con, on Saturday, July 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with fun for all ages and free admission. If you’ve ever wanted to get lightsaber lessons from a certain jedi or compete in an escape room with your closest adult friends, SCL Con is the place to be. For one day only, you can immerse yourself in a comic book universe at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library.
The library is going all out in the 2nd year of this big event.
Kids can play games with characters from a galaxy far, far away. Kids can meet Scavenger, Imperial Knight and their favorite droid and get photos.
For adults there’s an escape room with prizes from Dave and Buster’s. ArkLUG will have their full LEGO® display, and you can add your own creation. The Makerspace will be open, featuring different crafts and a green screen. Get your photo taken in front of the green screen with different backgrounds.
The teen area will have the mystery card game, Werewolf and other games. There will also be local vendors who will be selling crafts, art, toys and more. Bring cash since some vendors won’t accept card or check.
At noon Kum N Go will serve pizzas and the library will be grilling hot dogs. The Arkansas Symphony will perform, and HealthCARE Express Bryant will have a fun photo booth.
Last year, SCL Con was a huge hit for the library. “After the event, we had several people ask us to host a comic con more than once a year,” said Library Director, Patty Hector. “We knew we had to make this an annual event that got bigger and better each year.”
