When we arrived at the input at Peeler Bend, my daughter noted that the Saline River was “waaaaayyy high.” She’s right. In years past when we went for a visit, we could see the end of the boat ramp, but on Sunday, it was a good six feet away under the water’s edge. Whether we’re going to swim or not, we like to go occasionally just to visit nature and skip some rocks. You’ll see in the video below that I observed a worm on a mission and a butterfly bound to protect him.
Also included is an animated gif of Grace “plunking” rocks. There weren’t any of the right shape handy for skipping. I did find one small rounded rock that has surely seen many rapids and must’ve rolled up on the ramp after sticking in some tire tread from a boat trailer. Grace marked the date on it and I put it in a pocket in my car. On the way out, I noticed a nearby neighbor’s beautiful rose trellis. My mom will likely comment below, telling what kind of roses, but for me, “small and pink” is plenty description.
Warning: If you didn’t already know that I’m a complete dork, this video is bound to prove it.
Small and pink.
I obeyed lots of these rules.
Our river rock souvenir.
