BENTON, Ark. (July 16, 2024) – Saline Memorial Hospital has earned the 2024 Platinum Performance Achievement Award, the highest honor available from the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry.
Hospitals that participate in the registry report data about all acute myocardial infarctions treated, and the quality of care is tracked based on following the treatment guidelines outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association. Saline Memorial Hospital consistently met the benchmarks for two consecutive years (2022 and 2023) and qualified at the highest levels on the performance measures.
“It is an honor to award Saline Memorial Hospital with the Platinum Performance Award for their valuable national leadership and dedication to meeting comprehensive performance measures in patient care,” said Dr. Michael C. Kontos, FACC, chair of the NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Steering Subcommittee, and cardiologist at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. “The receipt of this award indicates that Saline Memorial Hospital remains committed to providing top quality, guideline-driven care for heart attack patients. Their success ensures patients are receiving the highest quality cardiovascular care.”
Treatment guidelines include administering aspirin upon arrival and discharge, timely restoration of blood flow to the blocked artery, smoking cessation counseling and cardiac rehabilitation, among others.
“At Saline Memorial Hospital, we are committed to following the most current, science-based guidelines in order to provide the best possible outcomes for all of our patients,” said Jeff Bourgeois, the hospital’s interim CEO.
The top-performing hospitals receive awards at three levels: silver, gold or platinum. Saline Memorial Hospital earned silver awards in 2022 and 2023 before achieving platinum status.
“This achievement reflects the collective efforts of a multidisciplinary team,” said Jeannie Otts, Saline Memorial Hospital’s chest pain coordinator and cardiac cath lab director. “It starts with our EMS partners in the field and our emergency department and extends throughout the hospital, including non-clinical teams, like IT.”
