THE EVENT:
Come to the big yard sale Saturday, October 1, 2016 to benefit the Saline County Preservation, Inc. The sale will be at the Lenz House on Hwy 5 North. (Map: https://goo.gl/maps/tDhJg16egep)
THE CAUSE:
The house is the beneficiary of this sale, as the group has gone to great lengths to restore it for our local heritage.
Sally Blewett told MySaline, “We are trying to raise money to stabilize the house with hopes of restoring it to the 1900 look that my great-grandfather created.” Blewett’s great-grandparents were Otto and Salome Lenggenhager.
Blewett says the current owner of the home, Bill Lenz, has promised to deed the property to Saline County Preservation Inc. if they can raise the funds. Please note that they are a 501c3 non-profit organization, which means you can also make a donation and deduct it from your annual tax burden.
THE TEAM:
There are lots of Saline County residents who have been working for months to get something accomplished and save this house. Among the board members are Jenny Carlisle, Grover Smith, Larry Bueche, Anthony Rushing and Christine Higgins.
DONATE ITEMS:
The group is currently collecting sale items toward the cause. Grover Smith or Larry Bueche will meet people at the little house on the property to collect items or people may bring items to the board meeting on Thursday, Sept 22, at 6:30pm.
They will also be at the house on Saturday, Sept 17 to receive items for the sale.
