In 1932, Arkansas’ own Hattie Caraway became the first woman elected to the United States Senate. Along with appearing nationwide as Hattie, Hendricks is the author of the book, Senator Hattie Caraway: An Arkansas Legacy, which takes a fresh look at Caraway. It was named by Cosmopolitan magazine as one of the “Twenty political books all women should read.” Hendricks appeared in her signature role as Caraway in the film, Hattie Caraway: The Silent Woman, which was shown on Arkansas Educational Television (AETN). She also performs nationwide in the program, Hattie to Hillary: Women in Politics. Among her honors are the Pryor Award for Arkansas History, the Arkansas Governor’s Arts Award, the Daughters of the American Revolution ‘Women in History’ Award, and the White House Millennium Award.
Her newest book, 100 Notable Arkansas Women: From Hattie to Hillary received a rave feature story in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. It was named an “Arkansas Gem” by the Arkansas State Library to be represented at the National Book Festival in Washington D.C.
