The Royal Players publishes a newsletter each month, detailing the upcoming shows on the stage of the Royal Theatre in historic downtown Benton at 111 S. Market Street. MySaline will reprint them for you right here, but if you would like to get them emailed directly to you, send a message to [email protected] and ask to be added to the mailing list.
This month: The Theatre’s 100th Birthday, Reopening Discussion, Marquee Messages, more.
The Players hasn’t been able to perform since mid-March. Since there haven’t been any performance dates to post, they decided to post the names of community partners that have supported the Royal Theatre. The Board of Directors will meet soon to discuss when and how they will be able to reopen. The newsletter states, “If we err, it will be on the side of caution. Please continue to wear your masks, distance, and stay safe. See you soon.”
On the first page of the newsletter, you’ll see a very old picture of the original manager of the building from 1924. When it opened, it was called The IMP, which stands for Independent Motion Pictures. See more about the history of the Royal Theatre at Encyclopedia of Arkansas.
The newsletter reminds patrons that Giving Tuesday is coming on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. If you would like to give to the Royal Players on that day, you can do so through the website donate link or by mailing a check to Royal Players, P.O. Box 1742, Benton, AR 72018 or send money through PayPal to [email protected].
