The Royal Theatre celebrates its 100th birthday in 2020, and they are looking for people to share their memories. They in turn will select stories to share on The Royal Players Facebook page.
They want to hear your stories of the Royal Theatre – whether you remember seeing a movie there, or being a cast member in one of the theatrical productions by the Royal Players or Young Players, or one of the other occasional events held there. Share your memories by sending an email to [email protected] and attach pictures if you have them.
The Royal began its life as The IMP in 1920, showing movies to the public and acting as a gathering spot in downtown Benton. It continued showing movies under the new name of the Royal Theatre when the marquee was added under other ownership years later. For the last 25 years, it has been the home of the Royal Players, and the site of live community theatre in Saline County.
