Rhonda Sanders announced Thursday, March 31st her 2022 campaign for Mayor of Bryant. Her announcement follows:
Twenty-nine years ago my husband, Rick and I moved here with our 6 week-old daughter, Samantha, because we believed in the people of Bryant and the values she represents. We still hold those feelings 29 years later. It is thus with great excitement that I announce my decision to run for Mayor of Bryant.
As a long-time citizen of Bryant, I’ve seen firsthand the growth and evolution of this community. I have experienced it as a young family with children, as a parent of teenagers, as a grandparent and as a professional. Now as I launch this campaign, you should know that I have a vision for the future for Bryant that I am prepared to lead toward.
As mayor, I will prioritize finding solutions to the flooding and drainage issues we have faced for years. I am equally determined to make our water more affordable and water billing more accurate. As a city, we must also have roads that are well maintained and can handle the traffic flow. Reaching solutions for these issues will improve the quality of life for all Bryant citizens.
As Bryant moves forward, it is critical to have managed growth. We want to see growth that will bring economic development without outpacing our infrastructure. As a city, we need to welcome business and maintain high expectations for investors and stakeholders. The past four years, Bryant has seen only limited growth, watching while other areas of our county surpass us and reap the resulting benefits. If elected, I will work with local businesses, neighborhood leaders, the city council and city personnel to ensure we are a welcoming city environment for new business.
I do not come to this decision to run for mayor lightly. My experience on both the Bryant School Board, the Bryant City Council, as well as my non-profit leadership, most recently at the helm of the Arkansas Food Bank, have given me unique insights and skills to address the challenges facing our beloved town. For the past 12 years, I have seen firsthand the challenges we’ve faced and it’s time for me to step forward to lead us through them. Being a successful mayor requires working collaboratively, leading with clarity and vision, and engaging transparently with the community and leadership. My experience and my deep commitment to Bryant give me the tools I need to be a successful mayor. I hope you’ll join with this campaign with your support and your vote November 8th. I look forward to meeting as many voters as I can in coming months, as I walk our neighborhoods and listen to your thoughts and concerns.
Let’s do this!
