See Underoath play an acoustic set… in downtown Benton, and do a meet and greet with their fans on Saturday, April 1st.
It’s *kind of a big deal* to have a major label band come to anywhere other than the capitol city, and I get that we’re saying this is on April Fool’s Day, but it’s no joke that Underoath is coming to Retro Rose, Downtown Benton’s own record store, on the afternoon before their show in Little Rock. This show before the show is in partnership with 100.3 The Edge radio station.
How cool does a record store have to be to pull off something like this? The band is coming to perform at the store AND to meet their fans. This is the type of event that Tower Records did in Los Angeles back in the day. And they also sometimes gave away tickets to the show… I think you see where I’m going with this. Retro Records has a contest on their page for someone to win tickets to the show AND a $50 gift card to the store.

Record store owner Audra McAnally-Parsons stated on social media, “We will have the honor of hosting one of my favorite bands since i was a teenager at the shop before their show at The Hall! They will perform a couple of songs acoustic AND meet with all of you! We will be fully stocked on Records, Posters, and more that day! Mark your calendars for April 1st! This is SUCH a big day for our store ? Its truly amazing that something so big in my life is coming full circle!”
Underoath has been described by critics as emo, screamo, Christian metal, metalcore, hardcore punk. Does that cover everything? No. Because they will also be described as the reason Retro Rose Records was covered up with fans that one day.
With song titles like, “A Moment Suspended In Time,” “When The Sun Sleeps,” “Sunburnt,” and… “I’ve Got Ten Friends And A Crowbar That Says You Ain’t Gonna Do Jack,” Underoath has given kids a reason to crank it to 11 since as early as 2002. How are they going to do acoustic versions of their signature screaming style – I guess whoever shows up will find out. Remember that parking is limited downtown, so you might want to pile in a car with your friends, park nearby and walk.
