After hosting a recycling and hazardous waste event, Recycle Saline says they have collected 185 bicycles to fix up for kids in need.
Recycle Saline, along with Youth Environmental Ambassadors (YEA!) Teams and Keep Bryant Beautiful, hosted a Recycling and Household Hazardous Waste drop off event on October 15th at First Southern Baptist Church in Bryant.
The bikes have been sent to the Recycle Bikes for Kids warehouse where they will be refurbished, and then given to kids. In total this year, Recycle Saline reports they have collected close to 300 bicycles. YEA! will take a field trip in December to help refurbish bicycles and bring bicycles back for Saline County students.
In addition to the bicycles, Recycle Saline collected:
- 5,440 pounds of metal,
- 14,306 pounds of electronics, and
- 20,516 pounds of household hazardous waste.
Recycle Saline says they want to thank the YEA! Team volunteers from all the Saline County School Districts, partners Bin There Dump That, Recycle Bikes for Kids, and Rineco.
2017 Recycling Events will be announced in January. For more info, visit recyclesaline.org or call 501-776-2533.
