Reginald W. Nalls, Jr., 82, of Little Rock, peacefully left this life, surrounded by devoted family on December 2, 2017. He is predeceased by wife, Jean Smith, mother of Debbie Schulten and Reginald Nalls, III; wife, Teddie Houser, mother of Darlene Beeler, Reginald Houser, Blaine Houser and Timmy Nalls. He is survived by wife Sue, his children, 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a multitude of friends. After graduating from Little Rock Central, he attended Harding University; then acquired a PhD in religious counseling. He served in the National Guard for two years. He loved his life of ministry in the Churches of Christ in AR, TX, and OK, preaching for 62 years. One of his many accomplishments was founding and operating the School of Preaching in Harrison, AR for many years. He preached a Sunday morning television program, “Life Is Worth Living” in Little Rock on KASN 38. He traveled to the Bible Lands twice, seeking out and visiting places Jesus had walked. In high school, he excelled in boxing, football, wrestling and baseball. After graduation, he pitched for the semi-pro Doughboys alongside Brooks Robinson. He continued his love of sports later in life by winning various state tennis championships. Robert Eugene Whitley Sr., age 83, of Benton; passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017. He was born December 26, 1933 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Houston Edward Whitley and Eva Belle Whitley. Robert served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and retired from Alcoa. He was a member of Mid-Towne Church and the Thundering Sams. He is survived by his wife, Sue Whitley; son, Robert E. Sammy Ray Mitchell, 83 of Benton, passed away on December 3, 2017. He was born May 8, 1934 in Brantley, Alabama to the late Silas amd Bertie Peek Mitchell. Sammy served in the United States Navy and was retired from Alcoa as a maintence mechanic. Robert Glen “Bob” Davis, 82 of Benton, passed away December 3, 2017. He was born February 17, 1935 in Little Rock to the late John A. and Lillian Eva Norman Davis. Bob was a longtime member of Northside Church of Christ and retired first from Reynolds Metals as a Power House Operator and then from North Little Rock Hydro Electric Company as a Power House Operator. Bob loved his family, the outdoors and was an avid hunter; he was a longtime member of the Tull Hunting Club. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Alice Johnson, age 79 of Mabelvale, passed away on December 4, 2017. She was born to the late, Carlos and Lena Hendrix in Bethel Springs, Tennessee on November 15, 1938. She loved doing arts and crafts and would often create and decorate for friends and family. In fact, she decorated the State Capitol for many years and they still use her handmade decorations to this day. She was the owner and operator of ABC Ceramics and later, of Dolls and Things. She kept her house so clean that you could eat her delicious homemade mac and cheese right off the floor. Alice is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 48 years, Ray Johnson; two brothers, Carlton Hendrix and Hoover Hendrix; and two sisters, Etta Kennedy and Roselyn Ray. Mary Murline Taylor Lumpkin, 86, of Bryant, passed away December 3, 2017. She was born March 28, 1931, in England, Arkansas to Esther and Bill Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Taylor and Bill Taylor; and sisters, Earlene Young, Mary Frances Taylor, Pat Adams, and Brenda Daugherty. She is survived by her one beloved son, Tony Terry (wife, Janna) of Bryant, and two cherished grandchildren, Emily and Nathan Terry of Bryant; brothers, J.B. Taylor (wife, Joyce Ann) of Little Rock, and Jimmy Don Taylor of White Hall; many nieces and nephews; and honorary family, Ramesh and Seetha Sathyanarayana of San Diego, CA, and Sanjay and Gail Wanchoo of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Mary was retired from The State of Arkansas Office of Rehabilitation. She graduated from Plum Bayou High School in 1949 where she played basketball. She was an avid Elvis fan and she loved to watch golf on TV – especially Phil Mickelson. She also loved going to Branson, cheering on the Razorbacks, growing flowers, and taking care of her puggles, Bono and Lucy. She was an extremely devoted grandmother and retired to help take care of her treasured grandchildren. She was thoughtful, warm, and always eager to extend hospitality to anyone that came to visit. Bertha Lou “Lucy” Arnold, 73, of Bryant, passed away November 25, 2017. She was born in Galax, Virginia on December 6, 1943 to Paul and Minnie Reavis. Lucy was a 15 year Army Veteran, and devoted wife, mother, foster parent and Foreign Exchange host. She always had an open house and open arms. She was preceded in death by both parents and an infant sister, Joyce. Leigh Gwynn Bryan, age 65 of Mabelvale, Arkansas passed away Friday December 1, 2017. She was born to the late Mary and James Darnell in Anchorage, Alaska, on February 19,1952. Leigh is survived by one sister Dorsey Johnston, and has two nieces Krisaundra Qualls and Joellen Hannegan. Arkansas became home to Leigh many years ago. Her one true love has always been her three sons, Tony Culpepper, Ethan Burchfield, and she is preceded in death by her middle son Jeff Bryan. She also has one grandson Zachry Culpepper and one granddaughter Miranda Killingsworth as well as, two great grandchildren. One of her fondest memories shared by her lifelong friend Tim Flemming (Bear) was all the family trips to Possum Kingdom on Lake Quachita. Hazel Hicks, 84, of Mabelvale, passed away December 2, 2017. She was born June 13, 1933, in Pine Bluff, to Gordon and Georgie Green. Her parents, her sister Rebecca and her husband of 65 years, Harold, precede her in death. Anne Bailey, age 74 of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, passed away into Glory, peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Monday, December 4, 2017. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on November 10, 1943. Anne leaves behind her husband of 54 years, John Bailey. Anne was a Mama and a Nannie. She loved life, her family, friends and her church. Anne also leaves behind two sons; Jeffrey Thomas of Guntersville, AL and John Anthony (Jack) Bailey (Jamy) of Austin, Texas. She also leaves four grandchildren; Chandler Elizabeth, Jordan Taylor, Hunter Thomas and Kennedy Brooke who will miss her dearly. John Paul Nutt Jr., age 72, of Benton passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017. He was born December 2, 1944 in Camden, AR. to late John Paul Nutt Sr. and Thelma Pennington Nutt. John was a 1962 graduate of Camden Fairview High School and attended Southern State University in Magnolia where he majored in Chemistry. In his 4th year at Southern State he joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi for a year for tech school studying Electronics. After tech school he was sent to Yokota A. F. B. in Japan where he spent the next three years. He became interested in electrical engineering while in Japan, he began taking courses through the U of A in Fayetteville. After leaving the air Force, he went to U of A in Fayetteville to finish his degree in electrical engineering where he graduated number two in his class. John later retired from Alcoa. John attended the Spring Creek Baptist Church. John loved driving his tractor out on his land, traveling, reading and classical music. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Annette Prince Nutt, two step-sons, Jim Simpson (Sheri), Benton; Tim Simpson (Sarah), Paron; step-grandson, Mickey Kendal Simpson, Tyndell A.F.B. Panama City, Florida; sisters, Virginia Tripplett (Doug), Springdale; Brenda Martin (Greg), Conway; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was much loved and will be greatly missed. Kelley Margo Burns, age 72, of Benton passed away Wednesday November 29, 2017. She was born July 4, 1945 in Little Rock. Kelley was an Arkansas native, third daughter of Alta M. Kelley. Over her life she did many things, she was a beauty instructor at Clayton’s Beauty College where she was sought out the most for her talent in styling hair. Later she became a dog groomer and was owner of Paws and Claws in Benton, where she was very busy as her talent from hair styling, she was able to apply those skills to dog grooming. She was involved in animal rescue and this was her passion helping her beloved animals. She was a wonderful loving soul. She was a wife, daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. She had a passion for life and helping when she could. She will be greatly missed by her family. She is preceded in death by her mother, Alta May Kelley, her dad, James Kelley, sisters, Claudette Shadwick, and Emily Joy Kelley. Joan Crowson Burton, age 92, of Tull, died December 2, 2017 at Saline Memorial Hospice in Bryant. She was born March 24, 1925 to Charles Robert and Alma Smith Crowson in Tull, Arkansas, where she lived until moving to Mt. Carmel in 2015. Joan was a life long working member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She was a member of Old Folks Singing Memorial Committee, the Tull Homemakers Club and DAR. Joan graduated from Bauxite High School in 1943. She became a war bride when she married J.T. Burton on December 16, 1944. After becoming a widow, Joan traveled across the United States, played dominoes and bingo and spent time with her family. She loved to cook and have visits around her table. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Jean Carlisle, Roberta Davis, Carolyn Whitener and Dolphine Keenum. She is survived by her children, John Victor and wife, Barbara Burton, Russell and wife, Janie Burton, Karen and husband, Jeff Westbrook, all of Tull; six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one brother, Paul and wife, Dodi Crowson of Glenwood, one aunt, Eunice Burrow of Tull and a host of family and friends. Nina Eddleman Johnson, 77, of Hot Springs Village passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in Hot Springs. She was born February 26, 1940 in Lee County, Arkansas to Nell Mercer Eddleman and James Woodrow Eddleman. Nina was a member of the Village Church of Christ, loved gardening, sewing, and crafts of many kinds. She was a “full-time grandmother” and loved her entire family with everything she had. She was known to be one of the most strong, brave, and positive ladies around. Nina loved unconditionally, and she never met a stranger. Her friendly and selfless personality was something that drew people to her. She faced everything in life with courage and faith and never let any circumstance overcome her. Nina was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and her memory will be cherished by all the loved ones she leaves behind. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, William A. “Bill” Johnson. Michael Zagorski, 73, of Hot Springs Village, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, November 20, 2017. He was born in Queens, New York to Stanley and Josephine Macaluso Zagorski. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Robert Zagorski. Arthur T. Watada JR, age 80 of Bryant, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017. He was born on August 16, 1937 in Platteville, Colorado to the late, A. M. SR and En Watada. He enjoyed passing time gardening, mowing and spending time outdoors. He loved spoiling his fat dog, Max, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He strived to stay active until the very end. He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Lou Watada, and three brothers. Mary Ellen Shelby Fagan, 80, of Benton passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017. She was born May 30, 1937 in Benton to the late Woodrow Wilson Shelby and Lois Kane Shelby. Mary was an active member of Forest Hills Missionary Baptist Church of Benton, AR. Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Jim Thomas Fagan; two sons, Shelby T. Fagan of Benton, and Wesley D. Fagan of Tennessee; one daughter, Lori Lea Fagan of New York; one sister, Anne Shelby Beyers of Benton; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jimmy Randle Wilmoth of Benton inherited the Place Prepared for Him on November 28, 2017. He was born in Bauxite, Arkansas, a place he loved and cherished until the end. He was active on the Board of Bauxite Historical Association and Museum having served as the Chairman of Building and Grounds for many years there. He loved the Old Bauxite Reunions and started the Old Movie Night prior to the Reunions, as a way to give back to the community and remember movies shown at the Bauxite Theater. He was born to the late A.C. and Elaine Reynolds Wilmoth in the Bauxite Hospital on December 28, 1942. A graduate of Bauxite High School and Pines Vo-Tech School, he was employed at ACI/Coorstek for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jane Burns Wilmoth, whom he always lovingly referred to as ”Janie,” his son Jon of Portland, Oregon, and a brother Shorty Wilmoth (DeAnne) of Georgia. Also loved and cherished were cousins Rowan Tipton (Gail) of Tennessee, Dr. Bruce Saunders of Ohio, the late Dr. Joe Saunders of Louisiana, Beverley Mitchell of California, Marjie Coleman (Danny) of Arkansas, and Stephanie Marshall of Indiana, an aunt, Lois Tipton, AR., his special nieces, Lori, Amy, Cindy, and Molly and a host of other relatives and friends. Eva Mae Wilhite, 91, of Bryant passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at home. She was born January 24, 1926 to the late Granville Hardin and Annie James Hardin in Redfield, AR. In addition to her parents, husband, James Wilhite, daughter, Glenda Wilhite, great grandson Shane Hall, five brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death. Survivors include daughter, Donna (Bill) Homesley of Alexander; four grandchildren, Rhonda Hipps of Bryant, Robyn (Brian) Steppig of Alexander, Renee (Russell) Summerville of Benton, Billy (Andrea) Homesley of Benton; seven great-grandchildren and five great- great children. Alex Martinez, age 86, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, November 25, 2017, after bravely fighting a battle with congestive heart failure. Alex was born to the late Joseph and Mary Martinez on July 6, 1931, in Houston Texas. He was raised in Houston with his eight siblings. After high school, Alex joined the Navy. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Saint Paul and fought in the Korean War. Upon returning to Houston he met the love of his life, Sammye Mills, and after their marriage they moved to Benton, Arkansas. Alex worked for Alcoa for 35 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Benton. He was known for his kind, gentle spirit and his sweet personality and smile. He always had a little joke to tell that made us adore him. He never put himself first. He was always serving and doing for others. He took great pride in his role as “Poppo” and his grandkids and their friends will have great memories of him standing on the sidelines cheering for them. His children and grandchildren were his world. They not only knew it but felt it. The legacy of a life well lived with hard work, kindness, gentleness, humility but most of all unconditional love that he leaves behind is something his family and friends will cherish. There are no words to describe how much he was loved and how he will be missed. We were truly blessed by his life, his love and his example. Alex was preceded in death by his wife and parents, his brother Joe and sisters Carmen, Judy and BeeBee. He is survived by his son Lex (Mallory) and daughter Celita, his grandchildren Collin, Cain, Alexander, Olivia, Molly and Elle and by his sisters Helen, Angie, Janie and Mary Lou. Millie, his faithful canine friend who kept a watchful eye on him is also left behind. Surviving him is a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and many friends who brought him great joy. Benny Earl Brigman, 83, of Benton, Arkansas passed away November 25, 2017. He was born October 29, 1934 in Russellville, Arkansas to the late Algie and Marie Wages Brigman. Benny served in the United States Navy during the Korean War where he was awarded the national Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, and the China Service Medal. He was a graduate of Benton High School. Benny played the trumpet and loved music. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and VFW. Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Algie and Marie Brigman; and biological father, Earl McIntosh. George Walter Graves, 73, of Benton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 27, 2017. He was born to the late Roy “Sonny” and Burl Taylor Graves on July 24, 1944. He was a member of Sheet Metal Local 36 for many years. George married the love of his life Mary Ella Ross on August 5, 1966. On June 15, 1961, Gerald and Linda Smith blessed the world with their daughter, Sherri Linda Sullivan. She grew up with her loving sister Sharon Gaines, where they spent their childhood years in Richardson, Texas. Then as teenagers, they moved to Benton, Arkansas. At age 19, she married the love of her life and best friend, C.Y. Sullivan. Together they created three beautiful children, Erron McCormack, Brooks Sullivan, and April Sullivan, who she considered to be her greatest gifts. Her oldest, Erron, married Corey McCormack and her gifts grew as they gave her three precious grandchildren; Jaycee, Jacon, and Aulene McCormack. She became Gram Ma and always had a surprise for her grandchildren whenever she would see them. She was such a giving person. Throughout her life she gained a big family that filled her heart with love and joy. Her family included, grandparents, mother and father in-laws, brother and sister in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She thought of them often. In her spare time, Sherri enjoyed hunting, fishing, and thrift shopping with her husband. She was also an amazing artist with a wild imagination. She loved cooking for her family and creating her own personal recipes. She was a kid who never grew up inside and loved everyone she met. She was many things in life, but most of all, she was a loving mother and wife. On Tuesday, November 28th, at the age of 56, after a seven- year struggle in health, she left this world behind but leaves her memory in all the hearts she loved. Harold “Slim” Clements, Jr., age 80, of Bryant passed away Monday, November 27, 2017. He was born in Jeff Davis County, Georgia to parents Harold Clements, Sr. and Gladys Marchant Clements. Harold served his country for eleven years in the United States Air Force. Slim loved fishing and tinkering outside. He believed a little duct tape could fix anything and he could always give a weather report at a moment’s notice. His favorite pastime was sitting on his porch swing with his dog Coco enjoying Popeye’s Chicken Slim is preceded in death by his parents, brother Preston Clements and his beloved wife, Shirley Clements.
