Virginia Bevens White, age 74, of Benton; passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017. She was born March 27, 1943 in Russellville, Arkansas. Mrs. White was a retired school teacher from Benton Junior High. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Benton, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Tuesday Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce Bascom Bevens and Martha Margaret Bevens; her husband, Thomas Bartow White and a half-brother, Walter B. Bevens. She is survived by her son, Brock Bartow White and wife Stacey of Fayetteville; brother, Bruce Boswell Bevens and four grandchildren, Sadie, Sawyer, Scarlett and Stetson White. Brenda Marie Rowan, 71, Benton, passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning, November 22nd, 2017 at Saline Memorial Hospital. She was a pillar of love and peace in her family and will be missed dearly. Brenda was a vital member of Wrights Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years, here she volunteered as their pianist to further show Gods love. Her greatest treasures in life were her son, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Brenda is survived by her husband, five siblings, one son, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Margie Sheppard Edgin, age 97, of Benton, passed to a better life on November 22, 2017. She was born to Alfred and Cora Sheppard on November 29, 1919 in Sheridan, Arkansas. Mrs. Edgin retired from Alcoa as a LPTN and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Benton. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Inez Sheppard; husband, Loyce “Boog” Edgin; daughter, Ellen Yvonne; two brothers, Junior and Stamps Sheppard; three sisters, O’Neal Jones, Virgie Kerr and Neoma McCallister and a grandson, Paul Alarcon. She is survived by her children, Sandra Alarcon, Eddie Edgin; Wayne Edgin (Phyllis) and Tammie Spradlin (Rodney); nine grandchildren, Marlon Alarcon (Susan), Jodi Harris (Tim), Kari Dycus (Brent), Steven Mcghee (Cheri), Greg Edgin (Paige), Jon Edgin (Michelle), Wade Edmondson (Michelle), Bliss Kelly (Josh) and Jaye Spradlin (Lindsey); nine great-grandchildren & one on the way; six great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren. Jimmy Lee Reed, age 61, of Owensville, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017. He was born October 2, 1955 in Millington, Tennessee. Jimmy served in the Vietnam War and Desert Storm with the Arkansas Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Mildred Reed and four siblings, Louie, Tammie, Nudgie and Jean Reed. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Reed; three sons, Johnny Mullinax of Lonsdale, Richard Mullinax of Hot Springs and Marion Hughes of Benton; two daughters, Samantha Reed and Jamie Reed both of Blytheville; three brothers, Tommy, Steve and Roy Reed; sisters, Linda Brown, Claire Reed, Julie Reed and Barbra Reed and ten grandchildren. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29 at Ashby Funeral Home.
Alex S. Curtis, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas passed away November 16, 2017, at the age of 92. A native of Fayetteville, AR, Alex was educated in the public school system in Fayetteville and attended The University of Arkansas where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a life- long supporter of the Razorbacks and U of A athletics. His studies were interrupted by his military service as a pilot during World War II. Following his service and university graduation, Alex began farming in N.E. Arkansas in 1949. Early in his farming career Alex was so successful that he was selected as one of America’s Four Outstanding Young Farmers by the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1956. In 1958 Alex moved his family and his farming business to Mississippi. In addition to his farming, Alex was an entrepreneur, successfully establishing Farmers Grain Terminal 1967 and serving as its President and CEO until retirement. Farmer’s Grain Terminal has become the largest grain merchandising company in the South. He also served as President of Choctaw Barges, Inc, Big River Barges, Inc, and Deer Creek Barges, Inc; and, the Rolfes Company. Near the end of his professional career Alex also served as Sr. Vice President of InterAg and; as a consultant to Capital Partners Agribusiness. Alex was also a civic and industry leader, serving on numerous boards and councils throughout his life. These included Bank Boards of Directors, Board of Staple Cotton Association, State Farm Bureau, Soil Conservation District, Delta Council, Greenville (MS) Port Commission, Mississippi Soybean Association and Soybean Promotion Board, WXVT (Greenville, MS) Television and National Council of Farmer Cooperatives. He served twice as the President of Greenville (MS) Country Club, Chairman of Committee for Commodity Exchange, Chairman of the Agriculture and Trade Policy Committee of the National Council of Farmers Cooperative and as a member of the National Farm Marketing Roundtable. Alex was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and hiking in the Arkansas Ozarks. Alex is a long time member and active participant in the Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village, AR. Alex was predeceased by his two brothers, Oscar Curtis and Fred Curtis and by his sister Lucretia Little. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne, son Marc and his wife Sheryl, daughters Kitty and her partner Stu, Susan and her husband Gene and, Mary and her husband Mark, four grandchildren (Stephanie, Niki, Eric and Joshua), and three great grandchildren (Alex, Brooke and RJ). A celebration of Alex’s life will be held December 2, 2:00 pm at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church, 700 Balearic Road, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas 71909 with Rev. Siegfried Johnson and Rev. Mike Morey officiating. Michael Zagorski, 73, of Hot Springs Village, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, November 20, 2017. He was born in Queens, New York to Stanley and Josephine Macaluso Zagorski. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Robert Zagorski. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Sue (Monti) Zagorski; two brothers, Joseph Zagorski and wife, Shirley, and Andrew Zagorski and wife, Margaret; five nephews, Joseph Zagorski, Robert Zagorski Jr., Andrew Zagorski all of Florida, Doug Zagorski, of Arizona, and Kurt Zemla, of Illinois; four nieces, Joanne Littauer, of New York, Debra Krpata, of New York, Veronica Junstrom, of Pennsylvania, and Dr. Amie Yanover, of Texas; in addition to a host of other family and friends. He was a former member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) and the Hot Springs Village Stargazers Club. Glinda Lois Wilson Stevens, 65 of Benton, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017. She was born to the late Earnest and Valie Wilson, on June 3, 1952 in Marshall, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Glen Bodkin; two sisters, Ella Mae Gibson and Wilma Morrow; brother, Floyd Wilson. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Paul Stevens of Benton; daughter, Paula Bodkin (Tommy) of Benton; her son, Jason Stevens (Sherrie); four grandchildren, Brittany Bodkin, Greg Bodkin, Jay Stevens, and Valie Stevens all of Benton; three great grandchildren, Hunter Bodkin McDonald of Indiana, Noah Harrison and Kylie Crocker both of Benton; one sister, Kathy George (John) of Benton; with numerous of nieces and nephews who love and miss her dearly. A celebration of life will be held at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior.
Bobby Ray “Bob” Webb, 79, of Benton passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born September 7, 1938 in Tuckerman, Arkansas to the late William (Dutch) Webb and Ona Mae (Roper) Webb. He was a meat cutter and custodian most of his adult life, most recently working at Wal-Mart. He was of Baptist faith, becoming a believer in his early years. Preceding him in death, besides his parents, were two sisters, Donie Mae Webb Jones, Loretta Webb Epp; and two brothers, Eugene Webb and Harold Webb. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Carlene; one son, Kevin Ray Webb and wife, Jami; one daughter, Dawn Marie Kolb and husband, Bruce, all of Benton; brother, John Webb of Newnata, Arkansas; one sister, Bennie Webb Evans of Colorado; six grandchildren, Charles (Chuck) Green, Clint Green, Crystal Green, Justin Webb, Jessica (Webb) Zuber, and Tyler Webb; ten great-grandchildren, Logan, Charice, Dedrick, Jainy, Justyce, Ayden, Kaily Ann, Abby, Ellie, and Dylan Rae; and a host of other relatives and friends. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29 at Big Springs Cemetery in Newnata, Arkansas.

Lee William Ault July 11, 1924 – November 19, 2017 Lee was born on July 11, 1924 and passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017. Lee was a resident of Arkansas at the time of passing. Lee entered the Civilian Conservation Corps at the age of 17 with a forged certificate and proceeded to join the Navy at 18. He served from 1942 to 1948 during WWII, spending most of his time aboard the USS Situla AK 140. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Caruth Village Funeral Home.

She retired from FedEx Freight. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Ira J. “Bo” Alton, her parents, Owen and Annie Pratt and one brother, Dale Pratt. William Martin Weir, 74, of Benton, passed away November 16, 2017. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
