Freda Thomas Whitlock, age 97, of Benton, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019. She was born March 11, 1922 to the late Oscar and Stella Fowler Thomas. Freda was a retired Bookkeeper for Thomas Auto in Benton and a member of The St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, E. C. Phillips Jr. and Lt. Col. Claude Whitlock; two brothers, Raymond Thomas and Clyde Thomas and three sisters, Bernice Guellich, Frances Berry and Gerry Beech. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Jo Thomas; step-son, John M. Whitlock and several nieces & nephews. Robert Eugene Shelton, age 62, of Conway, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019. He was born December 19, 1956 in Millington, Tennessee to the late Coy L. and Lucy Shelton. He is survived by his brother, Charles Shelton (Gina) of Conway; two sisters, Alice Brotherton of Benton and Mildred Augustine (Gary) of Wisconsin; four nieces and three nephews. Winfred Lee (Lawrence) Fagan age 85 of Benton, was born to Lawrence W. Fagan and Mittie Arlene Sutton Fagan on March 3, 1934 in Benton, Arkansas. He went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2019 at 12:47 AM. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence W. Fagan, and Mittie Arlene Sutton Fagan, of Benton and great-grandchild, Sean Jacob Harper, Norman, Oklahoma. Winfred served the city of Benton for 34 years and retired in 1989. Winfred loved the outdoors, he loved to hunt, fish and most of all he loved to travel to Branson, Petty Jean Mountain, and explore all the caves. He was a man who loved his kids, grand kids, and great-grand kids. He is survived by three sons, Jackie Lee Fagan, Lawrence Winfred Fagan, and Bobby Dewayne Fagan, of Benton; one daughter, Rhonda Jeaneen Fagan, of Blanchard, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Chad Fagan, of Blanchard, Oklahoma; Roger (Janice) Fagan, of Benton; Summer (J. D.) Wanda L. Rowe, age 79, of Bryant, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019. She was born August 15, 1940 in El Dorado, Arkansas. Wanda worked for the Benton Service Center. Mary Adney Green, age 81, of Benton, passed away November 21, 2019. She was born in Rives, Missouri on July 14, 1938 to Archie and Loney Adney. Following their residence on Petit Jean Mountain and Hot Springs, they moved to Benton and Mary started 1st grade in the New Hope Community School. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kimberly Leigh Green McNabb; brother, James Adney; and a grandniece, Randi Ann Adney. Mary is survived by her husband of 58 years, Victor Green of Benton; daughter, Karen Marie Blasingame (Daniel) of Fayetteville; niece, Susan O’Kelley (Jimmy); nephew, Randy Adney (Jan); and eleven grandchildren, Oliver McNabb, Jackson McNabb, Lehman McNabb, Mary Claire McNabb, Ophelia Blasingame, Victor Blasingame, Fiona Blasingame, Veronica Lawson, Victoria Lawson, Tyler Lawson and Danica Lawson. She graduated from Benton High School in 1956 and the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1959, retiring in 2003 after 44 years in the nursing profession. Mary served in the Arkansas National Guard where she earned the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. In 1971, she and Marcia Williams organized the Arkansas Unit of the American Cancer Society’s Reach to Recovery program. This a rehabilitation program for mastectomy patients. In 1978, she received the KARK TV Channel 4 Community Service Award for her volunteer work with the American Cancer Society. In 1993, Mary received a Clinical Excellence in Nursing Award while working with cancer patients in the oncology unit at Baptist Hospital. She is a member of the P.E.O. chapter, serving as president in 1999 to 2001 and again from 2015 to 2017. Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Benton and all of the other United Methodist Churches where her husband served as pastor. She always said when they pulled into the driveway of their new parsonage and started unloading boxes that we have arrived at home and ours was the greatest appointment made. Mary was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Twirling Lariats. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 25 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 26 at the First United Methodist Church with her final resting place to be at the Petit Jean Mountain Cemetery in the Hamilton Addition. Jack E. Landreth, age 68, of Haskell, passed away Friday, November 22, 2019. He was born May 6, 1951 in Traskwood, Arkansas. Jack served in the U. S. Army for 7 years and retired from UPS as a truck driver. He was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Arrie F. and Ruth Landreth; six brothers and one sister. Marion Lucille Sanders, age 82, of Benton AR, went to be with the Lord on Saturday Nov. 23, 2019 she was born May 16, 1937 in Saline Co. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, 6 siblings, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law. Survived by 1 sibling; her children, Sheila Neal, Glenn Sanders, Mike Sanders and wife Robin, and Annette Sanders. Also 5 grand kids, 5 great-grand kids, and 2 great-great grand kids. Linda Davis, 85 passed away on November 15, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born March 28, 1934 in Comanche, Texas to the late Alberta Hicks. Linda loved her family and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, bird watching, and was a member of Church of Christ for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Greg Davis and sister, Norma Kerley. Brett Hanna, 59 of Bryant passed away on November 19, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born in Arkadelphia on July 12, 1960 to the late Jerry Phillip and Patsy Louise Hanna. He loved going to concerts to see his favorite 70’s and 80’s bands, especially The Rolling Stones at War Memorial Stadium. He was also a lifelong volunteer at War Memorial Stadium with his brother helping with handicap assistance. Brett was an avid Razorback fan. He was the younger twin and also had siblings who were twins, too. Brett is preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; and sister in law, Sandra. Clara Louise Price, 91, of Benton, Arkansas went to be with the Lord November 22, 2019. She was born November 7, 1928 in Lonoke County, Arkansas to the late Grover and Winnie (Thornton) Tippitt. Clara was a member of Holland Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She supervised the church kitchen for over seventeen years and was active in the Bereavement Ministry where she cooked and served meals for families during their time of loss. Clara was past-president with the Pine Forest Extension Club and the Saline County Extension Club. Clara loved to work and make people laugh-even at her own expense. She retired from Tanglewood Safeway in Little Rock. Clara’s heart was full with the love of her family and friends. She asked for everyone to smile and give each other hugs. She also asked to be remembered as someone who considered it a privilege to serve God in any capacity for His honor and His glory! Preceding Clara in death are her husband, William H. Khang M. Tran 20 June 1971 – 15 November 2019 Khang M. Tran passed away on the 15th of November, 2019 at the age of 48. Beloved son, father, and friend Khang will always be remembered as a hard-working, caring, and inspirational man. Born in Phu Quoc, Vietnam by parents Thong Tran and Luyen Thi Le. He leaves behind wife Hanh Thai and five kids Kevin Nguyen (26), Christine Nguyen (24), Terri Tran (21), Kayden Tran (11), and Christian Tran (5). Khang was a lively and brilliant man always working beyond measures to improve the quality of life for him and his family. Selflessly, he put those before himself no matter the occasion, and for that, he is loved and appreciated greatly. Before and after being diagnosed with liver cancer, he lived everyday with humor and grace. His smile and laughter will be remembered most as it always livened the party. Sadly, Khang lost a well fought battle with cancer on November 15, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. He will continue to and forever be remembered as an amazing father, son, and friend.
