Otto Adrein Land, 77 of Benton, passed away September 23, 2016. He was born July 10, 1939 in Sheridan to the late W.O. and Lenore Lile Land. Otto was retired from Alcoa as an Electrician-Instrument Tech and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Otto loved to travel, visiting many National Parks. He loved Nascar and hunting with his deer camp buddies at Land Deer Camp. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Drayton and Dusky Land and son, Greg Land. Otto is survived by his wife, Gara King Land, daughter, Katie Land of Carencro, La, brother, Larry (Linda) Land of Crossett and grandson, Keaton Land. Helen Marie Thomas, age 85, of Benton, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016. She was born July 27, 1931 in Benton, Arkansas. Helen was a homemaker and a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Andrew Howard and Verda Lee Howard; husband, James Fredrick Thomas and two sisters, Ruby Hobbs and Louise Mangum. Tony Allen Taylor, 53 and Melissa Ann Drennan Taylor, 43 of Paron, passed away September 25, 2016. Tony was born January 11, 1963 in Benton to Louis and Earnestine Beck Taylor. Melissa was born May 1, 1973 in Benton to Doyal and Judith Knabe Drennan. Tony was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad for many years and both were members of the Paron Church of Christ Church. Tony was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Walter and Ruth Taylor, Steven and Sallie Beck, brother in law, C.W. Turbyfill. He is survived by his brother, James (Wanda) Taylor, sisters, Patsy Turbyfill and Diane (Gene) Clark both of Benton. Donald Wesley Procop, age 69, of Benton, was promoted to rest on Monday, September 26, 2016, surrounded by family. He was born September 7, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Clarence and Bonnie Procop. Don served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and later served in the Army National Guard. He retired from Alcoa and then spent 13 years as a bus driver for Benton Public Schools. Don was a member of Midtowne Church and very active in the BackPack Ministry. Marshall Austin Ray, 88 of Benton, passed away September 27, 2016. He was born January 28, 1928 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to the late Jessie and Nancy Moon Ray. Perry Lynn Young, 54, passed away September 25, 2016, after a battle with cancer. Born March 11, to Wade and Grace Jones Young, Perry grew up in East End and attended Sheridan High School. Perry “Neon” Young, employed by Arkansas Sign and Neon, was known for fearlessly hanging signs off 40 story buildings by just a rope. Juanita Hajek 93, of Benton, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016. She was born September 22, 1923 in Jackson, Mississippi to Billy Knight and Nettie Knight. George Francis Cardinal, 78, of Mabelvale passed away September 20, 2016. He was born February 22, 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts to Walter Francis and Alta Wood Cardinal. George was a retired salesman from Coca-Cola. He loved to play pool, cribbage, cook, and collect coins. Most importantly of all George loved his grand children and great grandchildren. Selmer Ardin Frick, 93, went to be with the Lord September 30, 2016. He was born on January 26, 1923 in Beresford, South Dakota to Carl and Nannie Frick. Selmer served our country in the US Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune from 1945-1946. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Selmer farmed in South Dakota until 1971 when he moved to Bella Vista to become a building contractor. Selmer was a deacon in the Bella Vista Baptist Church for years, he was also a member and deacon of Alcester Baptist Church, Alcester, South Dakota. After retiring he worked with several volunteer organizations including Sowers, building and repairing churches, homeless shelters and camps. Selmer was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; Laverne, Dale and Lloyd Frick, son; Larry Frick. Virginia M. Andrews, 92 of Traskwood, passed away September 23, 2016 in Bryant. She was born February 13, 1924 in Cherry Valley, AR to the late Joe and Dora (Leaptrott) Green. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, a sister and brothers. Leroy “Lee” Stevens, age 83, of Benton, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House in Bryant. He was born March 3, 1933 in Monette, Arkansas to the late Clifton and Augustia (Sutterfield) Stevens. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict actively for two years aboard the USS Wyandot with his brother Hubert Stevens and two years aboard the USS Diamond Head. He then served four years in the Navy Reserve. Lee was baptized in 1957 at First Baptist Church of Benton and has been a member of the church since that time. He barbered for three years. Lee retired from Alcoa after 31 years where he worked as an equipment operator. He was an avid fisherman and loved to camp with his wife in their fifth wheel RV at Lake DeGray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty years, Scottie Sue Stevens; and brothers Hershel Stevens of Marmaduke and Virnis Stevens of Jonesboro. Survivors include his daughter, Susan Wilson and husband, John of Benton; three grandchildren, Aaron Wilson and wife, Suzanne of Cary, North Carolina, Christie Pinney and husband, Dr. Ted Pinney of Benton, Julie Bittle and husband, Matthew of Benton; his six great-grandchildren, Tyler and Tatum Pinney, Jackson and Mollie Bittle, and Chelsea and Bryce Wilson; a sister, Sue Hester of Paragould, brother, Herman Stevens of Clio, Michigan, brother Hubert Stevens of Paragould, brother C.L. Richard “Rick” Wayne Wilson, 55, of Mabelvale, Arkansas passed away October 2, 2016. He was born May 1, 1961 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Richard and Jeanette (Sanders) Wilson. Rick was the best…with everything. The best dad, the best friend, the best worker. You name it…he was just the best. Rick never met a stranger. He was the type of man to help everyone out. He would give you the last dollar in his wallet and the shirt off his back. He was the person everyone would call when they needed their spirits lifted or if you just needed a good laugh. Rick loved to hunt and ride motorcycles. He enjoyed listening to blues music and is known as a “redneck hippie”. Most importantly, Rick was a man of God and loved the Lord with all his heart. Rick was preceded in death by Dessie Sanders, better known as Nana. Selenia Hill, 85, of Alexander, Arkansas passed away October 2, 2016. She was born October 18, 1930 in Vieques, Puerto Rico to the late Lucus and Fidelina (Maldonado) Rosario. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Herbert Hill, and her parents. Selenia leaves to cherish her memories children, Vicki Chism and husband Rusty of Bauxite, Arkansas, Victor Hill of Alexander, Arkansas, Vernon Hill and wife Tami of Bryant, Arkansas, and Vivian Rodgers and husband Ron of Evans, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Kelly Blackburn, Heath Pelton, Raine Chism, Rance Chism, Dakota Hill, Tyler Hill, Cory Rodgers, Kayla Rodgers, and Craig Rodgers; four great-grandchildren, Felicia Blackburn, Mandy Cole, Heather Blackburn, and Channing Chism; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Gladys Rosario; and many more family members and friends who loved Selenia and will miss her always.
