Myrtle E. Burton, 91 of Tull, passed away August 9, 2017. She was born March 26, 1926 in Tull to the late Mordecai and Ada Tull Burrow. She was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church in Tull. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 53 years, Amos Burton, brothers, John, Sam and Lloyd Burrow, sisters, Belva Davis, Lena Middleton, Maurice Snodgrass and Wilma Dean McClung. She is survived by her sons, Larry (Sandy) Burton of Tull, Kenneth (Kay) Burton of Louisville, Mississippi, grandchildren, Ashlea, Nicholas, Brittany and Bryan, great grandchildren, Trent, Evan and Colt. Earl Hollis Burrus, age 79, of Benton passed away Wednesday August 9, 2017. He was born October 26, 1937 in Arkansas. Earl was a retired Concrete Finisher. Carmen Rae Turner, 27 of Benton, passed away August 10, 2017. She was born in Little Rock to Michael and Angela Dillavou Turner on April 3, 1990. Georgia Manus Harris, age 92, of Benton, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones. Mrs. Harris grew up in Atkins, Arkansas. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Carey James Langley, age 71, of Benton, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017. He was born March 28, 1946 in Benton, Arkansas. Carey retired from International Paper Company after 38 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Carey was preceded in death by his parents, James Andrew Langley and Eleanor Jackson Langley and a son, Tony R. Langley. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Vikki Langley; son, Jeremy Langley (Gwen); daughter, Kelly Glascock (Shane); two sisters, Gail Woodall and Delores Hill and two granddaughters, Brooke Langley and Isabella Glascock all of Benton. Esther “ Juanita” Marter, 88 of Benton, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017. She was born to the late James and Willie Townsend McCrory on May 8, 1929 in Holly Grove, Arkansas. Juanita was a member of First Baptist Church in Benton, teaching the four year old class for many years. She also worked in the nursery and kitchen as well. Juanita sold Avon for over 35 years, enjoying her customers and also serving as a Girl Scout Leader. She will be missed by many. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Charles M. Marter, Jr., brothers, Odell, Ellsworth (Pete), Alton, Q.Z. and G.W. McCrory, sisters, Archell McKenzie, Tildy Nix, and Maudy Grimes. She is survived by her son, Charles M. Marter, III and daughter, Carolyn S. Cole, grandchildren, Michael A. On August 12, 2017 death sneaked in and separated, but only temporarily, one extremely exquisite love affair between Barbara Gail Marks Saunders and Danny Saunders. God lovingly brought these two babies together, by birth, on a beautiful, cold morning on February 3, 1960. They were born within three minutes of each other and emotionally they were bound together from birth in a union that death cannot separate. Danny’s statement of his love for Barbara is, and has always been, “I will love her forever. I have always loved her from the first moment I saw her.” Just as God has united them from the first, He will reunite them in Heaven. Barbara was born in Little Rock, AR to James and Ruth Marks. Both are deceased. She is survived by a daughter, Teresa (Roger) Whiting; one brother, James Marks; one sister, Dorothy Collins; three grandsons, James Uptain, Dakota Uptain and Damion Harrison; two granddaughters, Isabella Uptain and Shyanne Uptain; one great- grandson, Boston Uptain; mother-in-law, Dorothy Moore; three special sisters-in-laws, Tracy, Sparky, and Renee, who she considered true sisters. Robert Cecil Patterson, 73, of Benton, Arkansas passed away August 15, 2017. He was born December 11, 1943 in Titusville, Pennsylvania to Cecil and Lanetta Strawbridge Patterson. Bob was known as “Butch” while growing up as a child. He served in the United States Army and is a Vietnam veteran. Bob received several commendations during his service including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Medal with Palm. Fishing was a favorite pastime of Bob’s. He enjoyed trading and dealing at several local flea markets. He was a great cook and family states everything he made was delicious. Bob was gifted in the ability to do any home remodel project and was currently helping his daughter design her new home. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Lanetta Strawbridge Patterson. Pauline Sugg Lay, 92, of Alexander, Arkansas passed away August 17, 2017. She was born January 1, 1925 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Leonard Monroe and Willina Parker Sugg. Pauline graduated from Central High School. She loved the Lord and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Little Rock. Pauline was a bookkeeper and housewife. One of the highlights of her life was being a Bill Clinton campaign staff member in 1980’s. She was very outgoing and enjoyed meeting new people. Pauline loved to travel and go on cruises.
