Evelyn Costley age 79, 0f Bryant, passed away Thursday July 20, 2017. She was born August 1, 1937 in Scott, Arkansas. Evelyn was retired from the VA Hospital in the Food Service Dept. she was preceded in death by her parents, Omar and Ernestine Goshien Doan, husband, George Costley, and several brothers and sisters. Survivors, son, William Sievers, brothers, Robert Doan and Vernon Price, sister, Irene Ogden, four grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren. Sharon Ann Langley age 62, of Benton, passed away Friday July 21, 2017. She was born September 27, 1954 in Benton, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Dee Shoptaw and Virgie M. Gatlin Raper, and husband, John Otis Langley. Survivors: sons; Steven Dee Langley and John Allan Langley and wife Amber Langley. Sisters, Juanita Davis and husband J.T. Richard Burdick, age 83, of Benton passed away at Alcoa Pines Heath and Rehab Friday July 21, 2017. He was born September 3, 1933 in Frankfort, New York. Richard worked for the US Postal Service for 25 years and was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers branch 6119, Metairie, LA., and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eustace G. Burdick and Elizabeth Kinne Burdick, wife, Mary Grace Burdick, brother, Kenneth Burdick and wife Ann Burdick, daughter-in-law, Linda Owens. Survivors, son, Richard E. Burdick Jr., grandson, Richard E. Ruth Naggs, 86, died from ovarian cancer on Sunday, July 16, 2017, in Hot Springs Village, Ark. She was born in Centerville, Iowa, on August 7, 1930, to Abijah and Hazel Winter and was the youngest of three daughters. She married Wilson (Bill) Naggs in 1952 after they met at Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. Ruth and Bill lived in Iowa City, Iowa, Cincinnati, Ohio, and St. Louis, Mo., before moving to Bettendorf, Iowa, where they resided for 40 years. They retired to Hot Springs Village, Ark., in 2004. Ruth enjoyed family and friends, travel and golf. She took pride in her work as an EKG technician, which helped to support Bill through graduate school at the University of Iowa. She later worked in the home office of Von Maur department store in Davenport, Iowa. Ruth served on numerous church committees, including her favorite, the Fair Trade Coffee Project. She also gave her heart and soul as a volunteer with projects such as Bettendorf Athletic Boosters Club and working with the homeless through Jackson House in Hot Springs, Ark. Ruth was a long time member of the TTT Society, serving as Iowa State President for 1982. She particularly enjoyed fulfilling the society’s mission to send underprivileged girls to summer camp. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen Young, and her grandson Bill Naggs. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, her eldest sister, Mary Ellen Atkins, children Jeff (Diane), Steve, Julie (Frank), and grandson Ian. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 26, at Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines, 275 Asturias Drive, Hot Springs Village, Ark. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NormaLeah Ovarian Cancer Initiative, TTT Endowment Fund, Bettendorf Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines, or by serving a friend suffering with cancer.
Patsy Ruth (Price) Natho passed away peacefully on July 17, 2017 due to dementia-related illness. Patsy was born September 13, 1934 in Texola, Oklahoma, and was raised in Borger, Texas. There she met Carl Natho, who would become her husband of 53 years. They later moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where they lived for decades and raised their two children, David and Amy. Carl and Patsy retired to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas in 1997. In the last years of life, Patsy found joy in her dear companion Bob Rogers. Patsy had many jobs in her lifetime, including stay-at-home Mom, legal assistant with Phillips Petroleum Company, antiques appraiser, and running Two Friends Estate Sales with a partner in the Village. She volunteered countless hours of her time to support church activities and community organizations. She was a member of PEO sorority and the Kiwanis Club. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Olvin and LaNell Price, her brother Joe Price, and her husband Carl Natho. She is survived by son David Natho (Karen Hallett), daughter Amy Natho (Mike Porter), and numerous “honorary grandchildren.” We will remember her as feisty, outspoken, funny, strong-willed and fiercely independent, with a flair for the dramatic…but also as a loving and committed wife and mother with a tender heart, generous spirit, and a passion for helping others. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends, but we are glad that she is once again whole, at peace, and reunited with loved ones who have gone before. We owe a debt of gratitude to the staff of Village Springs Health and Rehabilitation and Dierksen Hospice for the loving care they provided to Patsy in her last weeks of life. Dolores Ann Gile, age 85, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas passed away peacefully in Hot Springs, Arkansas on July 17, 2017. She was born October 26, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. She was a member of The Women’s Club at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Dolores was a simple woman whom everyone loved, especially her husband of nearly 65 years, John Giles. Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Barbara Gough; and two brothers, Donald Jaffray and Jerry Jaffray. She is survived by her husband, a sister, Joan Barron; 12 nieces and nephews; and many other family members and dear friends. William Lester Dillon Sr., 91, of Benton, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 15, 2017. He was born in Dewitt, Arkansas on November 3, 1925, to the late Manley and Amanda (Mandie) Dillon. He is preceded in death by his wife, Natalie Wilder Dillon; parents; brothers Richard, Richmond, and Charles Dillon. He is survived by his children, Bill Dillon, Jr, and Denise Dillon Chism (Clint); grandchildren, Casey Harris, Kimberly Robbins (Lance), Carly Morris (Shane), Candy Chism West (Monty), Joey Chism (Shannon), and Caleb Chism; and 14 great- grandchildren. He graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1943. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy in which he served in the Pacific during World War II as a Signalman Second Class. He retired from St. Paul Insurance Company following 30 years of service as a Claims Representative/ Insurance Adjuster. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Gideons International, a Perpetual Member of Pulaski Heights Masonic Lodge No. 673, and a Shriner. He was also a member of FAY Hempstead Lodge, and Occidental Council No. 1. He loved serving his Lord, Jesus Christ, and serving others. The family would like to offer a very special thanks to Heartland Rehab Staff, who truly became our friends and family, for the special care and love given to Mr. Dillon (Daddy). Theresa Kay Summers, 54, of Benton, Arkansas passed away July 19, 2017. She was born August 23, 1962 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to the late John and Mary Pledger Summers. Theresa was an honor graduate of Springdale High School in 1980. She received a Bachelor degree from UAMS Medical School as an honor student with a 3.98 GPA. Theresa was a registered nurse and started working in the medical field at the age of 16 as a Certified Nursing Assistant at City Hospital in Fayetteville. She also worked at Springdale Memorial Hospital, Baptist Medical Center Little Rock, St. Vincent’s, and Allegiance Long Term Acute Care. Theresa’s true nature was being a giver, not a taker. She was a person who gave love and attention, and was always doing things for others. This nature carried over in her care as a nurse for her patients. She did everything possible to make sure her patients were being taken care of. One of her greatest joys was caring for her pet Boxer, April. She taught this smart puppy how to talk, including saying “Mama” and “I love you.” Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. John and Mary Summers. She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Debbie Rodgers and husband Larry of West Fork, Arkansas and Jonna Summers of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one niece; three nephews; two great nieces; special family friends, Dr. David Brewer and Lois Smith; her loving church family, Benton Four Square Church; furry companion, April; and a host of friends who love her and will miss her always. Raymond Aldon Berry, Sr., 80, of Benton, Arkansas passed away July 19, 2017. He was born July 14, 1937 in Benton, Arkansas to the late Raymond C. and Dora M. Bierman Berry. Raymond was a former deacon and member of Wright’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for many companies delivering freight all across the United States. During his spare time, Raymond enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a collector of hidden treasures found at local auctions and yard sales. His days were usually started off by going to McDonalds for coffee and breakfast. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Berry; parents, Raymond C. and Dora M. Bierman Berry; and brother, Dale Berry. James Edward Echols, 85, of Mabelvale, passed away July 18, 2017. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired as a newspaper pressman at the Arkansas Gazette after 30 years of service. He then joined the family business, Lawn Mowers Plus. He served as a deacon at Chicot Road Baptist Church and was a member of the Gideons. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Thelma Lawler Echols, his wife, Lola Mae Echols, and two brothers, Harold Dean Echols and Billy Martin Echols. He is survived by his sons, Jeffery Alan Echols (Stephanie), James Richard Echols (Cindy), both of Mabelvale, and Ricky Lee Echols of the Fairplay Community; brother, Ronnie Lee Echols; grandchildren, Melissa Marie Reid, Vickie Lynn Echols, James Edward Echols, Ethan Grayson Echols, Anna Grace Echols, Victoria Alexis Thompson, Alexander Shell Thompson, Aiden Scott Thompson and Ashton Dale Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Maitlyn Marie Jones, Jacelyn Anne Jones and Trei Jackson Jones.
