He was extremely smart and attended I.T.T Technical Institution, a school for the highly engineered people. Derrick married his first love, Erica Hardwick, at the age of twenty-three. Together, they conceived two beautiful sons, Michael and Zachary Dumond, bother bearing his intellect and bright blue eyes. Derrick made his living in carpentry, mechanics, plumbing and construction. Derrick was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jesse and Juanita Dooly, his maternal step-grandmother: Velma King Dooly, his paternal grandparents: Roy and Martha Dumond, and his paternal step-grandmother: Agnes Dumond.
