At the January 17th meeting of the Saline County Quilters Guild, member Cathy Gilmore shared her experience and techniques of restoring quilts that have been damaged.
During her presentation, Cathy mentioned that she uses an applique technique to attach new pieces of fabric on the areas that are torn or frayed. Cathy has repaired quilts that are 90 years old or older. She has at times has spent over 100 hours working on some of the quilts. She loves saving damaged quilts and bringing life back to each one.
