Albert Pyle, age 85, of Mabelvale, was randomly selected Thursday as the first of two winners of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery’s (ASL) Willy Wonka Billion Dollar Challenge™ Second-Chance Promotion and will travel to Las Vegas in April for the opportunity to play for $1 billion.
Pyle entered non-winning Willy Wonka Golden Tickets™ into the promotion through the ASL’s player’s club, The Club. His prize includes round-trip airfare for two to Las Vegas April 14th-17th, 2019, three night’s accommodations at a deluxe hotel, and $1,000 spending money.
The Billion Dollar Challenge™ is scheduled for April 16th with prizewinners from other participating lottery jurisdictions. Pyle will have a chance to win a cash prize from $1,000 up to $1 billion.
Pyle and his wife, Nina, just celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary last Sunday. The couple plans to use the visit to Las Vegas as an anniversary trip. Neither of them has ever been to Las Vegas.
