When they said January, they meant it. The new pOpshelf store is opening perhaps Monday January 15th in Benton, Arkansas, according to a manager there. But you may have heard there’s inclement weather coming. That could mean they’ll open as late as Wednesday. Read more below.

There’s a new store coming to Saline County, Arkansas. You’ve probably seen activity at the storefront located at 20496 Interstate 30 in Benton. If you don’t have a map committed to memory, the store will be located behind Texas Roadhouse, and to the right of Hobby Lobby, where Tuesday Morning used to be. So what is a pOpshelf and who owns it? It’s a new store by Dollar General (DG) that caters to a more upscale shopping experience, according to Fool.com in an Oct 2023 article. Many items are priced around $5, but there are some higher and some lower. Emily Taylor, Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer of DG stated in a CNBC article in 2021 that the idea for pOpshelf began in 2018 when the company sought to expand their inventory categories to include things like home decor and party items.

pOpshelf sells products in several categories – home decor, crafts, beauty, seasonal, kitchen, party supplies, toys, household needs, electronics, pet needs, apparel and more. They also have food – pasta and rice, candy, chips and snacks, beverages, pantry essentials, as well as a refrigerated and frozen section.
There are around 200 pOpshelf locations in 20 states. There are already two locations in Arkansas, at 701 Elsinger Blvd in Conway and 11500 Financial Centre Parkway in Little Rock.
According to the pOpshelf website, “We make it fun to find what you need and easy to buy what you want.” They describe their products as on-trend.
