Two suspects were taken into custody by Saline County Sheriff’s Office deputies Wednesday, November 29, 2023, following a BOLO from Benton Police Department for two suspects spotted in a porch pirating incident in Hurricane Lake Estates.
Kaylyn Jenkins, age 20, and Danielle Babcock, 23, both of Mabelvale, were arrested. Someone in the neighborhood said they saw the women discarding empty boxes just after 10:30 a.m. The two fled after being spotted, but Saline County deputies caught up with them a short time later at N. Sardis Road. They were taken into custody without incident.
Both suspects were transported to the Saline County Detention Center and charged with 18 counts of Theft of Property (Class D Felony) and one count of Unauthorized Use of Another Person’s Property to Facilitate a Crime (Class B Felony).
BNPD officers collected the discarded empty boxes, as well as stolen items from the vehicle the suspects were using. They made contact with the victims and return the items to their rightful owners. The investigation remains ongoing. Detectives ask anyone with additional information to reach out by calling 501-776-5947. They also request anyone missing packages in the Hurricane Lake Estates area reach out to the same number, as contact has not been made with all victims at this point in time.
Detectives also offered this advice for preventing porch pirates this holiday season and beyond:
“If you can’t be home for a delivery, arrange for a trusted friend or neighbor to hold your packages for you or have the packages shipped to the post office or other holding facility when the option is available,” said Capt. Eric Haworth. “You can also request a signature with many companies. Delivery services have gotten very precise with their notifications, but all of these tips will go a long way in preventing your packages from being stolen.”
