It appeared recently and has left locals wondering how it got there. If the objective is to have motorists slow down and observe the speed limit, then I don’t guess it matters who painted the words “Speed Trap Ahead” directly on the asphalt. If the objective is to give out speeding tickets, then I suppose an individual might be in jeopardy for having painted it.
It may be law enforcement that painted it. If so, then perhaps they don’t even need to set up a speed trap. Drivers wont know if it’s true or not, and they are likely to err on the side of not getting a speeding citation. But law enforcement won’t be able to write any citations if they aren’t actually present.
I love a good head scratcher, so thanks to John Cohen for allowing us to post this as Picture of the Day! It’s located near the Big Red Store on West Sardis in Alexander/Bauxite.
