Saline County residents Rocky and Stephanie Cole ventured out on Wednesday evening to check on road conditions and ended up seeing something amazing.
Stephanie says she saw several semi-trucks stuck on Interstate 30 at the border of Benton and Bryant.
“We actually saw this one get stuck because of a small truck getting stuck on hill,” said Stephanie. She and Rocky saw the semi going backwards due to the small truck, and said that ultimately, the semi’s back tires went off the road.
As the Coles came through the scene again, they saw several pickup trucks join together, one by one chaining together to help this semi truck driver out of a slippery situation.
Once Stephanie and Rocky realized what was happening, they sat perched on Alcoa Road, just north of the overpass at a car dealership, to watch the train of trucks was coming off the frontage road and up the ramp at McDonald’s and Zaxby’s.
“As we were passing by, we see three trucks lined up chained together and then chained to semi,” said Stephanie. “We pulled over at Campbell to watch and 4th truck arrives, then a 5th and 6th. They were successful!”
Here’s the amazing video that Stephanie got of the pickups pulling them up the hill to Alcoa Road:
