Roger Lyndon Poole, age 79, of Bryant, Arkansas passed away on April 3, 2023. He was born on August 16, 1943 in DeQueen, Arkansas but grew up in Nashville, Arkansas. He was proud of his Nashville Scrappers and played Center in high school.
He served from 1964-1968 in the US Air Force. He always told veterans, “Thank you for your service.” He loved the Arkansas Razorbacks too. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1973 as an Electrical Engineer.
He worked for Entergy for 30 years, retiring at the age of 60. He always said he was going to write after he retired. He eventually published two books, “The Sleigh,” and “But Mama Said,” along with many other writings, including poems and songs.
Roger was a member of Midtown LR Rotary and Pinnacle Questers. He served as an officer in both.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mat and Maxine Poole; his sisters, Wilma Jean Thomas Sharp and Elizabeth Janice Hudspeth; and his brother, Richard Allen Poole.
Roger is survived by his wife of 58 years, Thelma Edwards Poole; brothers J.M. Poole (Norma), Wes Poole (Suellen), and Wayne Poole (Jeanette); and his children Rick Poole (Gina) and Shelli Poole; along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be at Mabelvale United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Visitation at 1:00 p.m. and Service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Mabelvale UMC at 10500 Woodman, Mabelvale, Arkansas 72103.
