Pam Ray of Benton, Arkansas passed away Saturday, November 20th, 2021.
Born December 20, 1950, Pam had been a resident of Benton since 1991.
Those in the community day Pam was a true example of a servant leader. She never met a stranger and always worked to better the lives of others. The Churches Joint Councils on Human Needs (CJCOHN) and the Democratic Party if Saline County both expressed what a great loss her passing is to the community.
When she wasn’t volunteering at CJCOHN, she still donated food to pantries because she truly believed in a world where no one would go to bed hungry. Pam began volunteering for CJCOHN in 1991 alongside her late mother, Barbara Atchison, who was a founding member of the organization.
Pam served as CJCOHN’s food director, a role she expertly carried out for a number of years. Pam helped raise funds for CJCOHN by speaking to various civic and church groups.
Pam was always sporting her beautiful teal hair color. If you ever asked her why, she would tell you it’s for Scleroderma, a chronic hardening and tightening of the skin and connective tissues.
Pam fought Scleroderma for many years, but she didn’t let it stop her. She would regularly talk about her Scleroderma family on Facebook and at the annual conference.
One thing that she loved more than her community was her family. Every time you talked to Pam, she would talk about her family and what they were up to.
In lieu of flowers, Pam’s son, Randy, daughter-in-law, Karen, and beloved granddaughters, Elizabeth, Riley, and Becca request donations be made to CJCOHN in Pam’s memory. Please remember Pam’s family in prayer as they mourn a profound loss.
