Our much loved father and brother, Garry Steven “Steve” Spickard, 68, of Sheridan, passed from this world Sunday, June 16, 2024. He was the son of Owen & Lexie Spickard, born October 10, 1955. Steve and his twin sister Debbie were the first twins born at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, Arkansas.
He is survived by his son, Garron Steven Spickard and wife Jodi; granddaughter, Kali Spickard; brother, Richard Spickard; and three sisters, Judy Hulse and Maizie Walden both of Benton and Debbie Vance (Gary) of Conway.
Steve loved football and coached many young boys, beginning when his son was a Bauxite mini Miner. In later life, those boys still called him Coach because they remembered that he always let all the boys play no matter their talent.
He was the President of the Bauxite Old Timers for many years, rescuing it from a nearly defunct status. Steve had a marvelous sense of humor, blessed with a “gift of gab,” could tell a story at the drop of a hat that was interesting & funny.
He was a generous man who never met a stranger. His coaching paid off with his son winning a football scholarship to SAU. Steve loved and was so proud of Garron, Jodi and Kali. His friends & family will miss him terribly.
