Chance Armstrong, age 18, of Benton; passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017. He was born December 30, 1998 in Benton, Arkansas. Chance was a member of the Family Life Church in Bryant where he was Saved and Baptized. He was going to be a senior at Arkansas Christian Academy. Chance loved being outdoors and playing all sports; his favorite being baseball. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert James Armstrong. Jane G. Gambill, 84 of Benton, Arkansas, passed away June 18, 2017 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born July 21, 1932 in Brookland, Arkansas to the late Harry and Marie Gibson. Mrs. Farris worked for McDonald Douglas Aircraft in Los Angeles, California and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Klara B. Glenda Gail Revis Helmich passed Wednesday, June 28 at Oxford Glen Memory Unit in Sachse, TX. She was born March 11, 1940 to Bill and Meathel (Allen) Revis in Bismarck, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 52 years, Theodore (Ted) Helmich. She is survived by 2 children, Bryan (Vanessa) Helmich of Wylie, TX and Marna (Jason) Helmich Musteen of West Point, NY; and 5 grandchildren, Victoria, Nicholas, and Elizabeth Helmich and Rachel and Thomas Musteen. Siblings Paul (Rosalie) Revis, Carolyn Revis Lenz (her twin), and Bill (Rebecca) Revis survive her. Glenda graduated Benton High School in 1958 and continued her education at Arkansas Tech University, where she met her future husband and obtained an associates degree in secretarial skills. Glenda and Ted married upon graduation in 1960 and began a life making many incredible memories. Living on 3 continents and pursuing her many creative talents, Glenda contributed to the lives of friends and family, especially her church family at Zion Lutheran Church in Avilla, where she was a member for over 25 years. Sewing, gardening, quilting, flower arranging, French hand sewing, event planning, smocking, painting, and interior design were just a few of her creative outlets that benefited many. She leaves behind a family that lovingly recalls her gracious ways and beautiful creations (and laughingly remembers her misplacing them just as they were to be gifted, only to be found a month later). She worked for nearly 20 years at St. Vincent Hospital in X-Ray and CT. Vicki was of the Baptist faith attending Old Union Baptist Church since 1997. He was an avid Arkansas Razorback and St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed traveling the backroads of the Western US, a member of Bauxite Old Timers, Holland Chapel, and the Masonic Lodge, an assistant Boy Scout Leader for many years, helped start the Benton Future Panthers Football Program, a collector of Indian artifacts, and he could throw one hell of a left-handed knuckleball. William Harvey Ison, age 91, of Benton, passed away on July 3, 2017; also known as (Sonny or Bill). He was born June 23, 1926 in Gravel Ridge, Arkansas. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ela Snow Ison and William Hamilton Ison; brother, Faye (Bud) Eugene and brother-in-law, Bill Westenhaven. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, W. J. Ison of Benton; sister, Norma Ruth (Sue) Westenhaven of Sherwood and sister-in-law, Ida Ison, Sherwood; his children, Mike and Gale Ison, Sherwood; and their mother, Pat Homard, Little Rock; step-children, Kevin Malone (Rhonda) and Kim Reynolds (Keith) of Benton; grandchildren, Chris Ison, Ariel Baltz (Chris), and Hannah Malone, Ben Malone (Tiffany), Jory Malone (Abby), Chrissy Reynolds and Haley Reynolds and great-grandchildren, Chandler, Jace, Jackson and a three more expected. He was quickly shipped overseas where he saw action at Guam, Saipan, Philippines, Luzon and Leyte. Bill was third class radioman and continued his education at Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Arkansas after his deployment. After his graduation, he started his career at Southwestern Bell and remained a valuable employee until his retirement. During that time, SWB, sent him as far as Nassau to install communications for the space program. He was also responsible for the installation of the West Memphis Dog Track. Bill enjoyed spending his retired time Rv’ing with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved fishing and golfing with his friends. Bill has touched many people in his life with his kindness and giving nature. He loved taking old treasures apart and restoring them. For 2 years, he enjoyed car racing at the Hope Airport on weekends. Bill was always ready with a story or a little tune. His story telling will be missed by many for years to come. Jacqueline Dianne Pittman, age 67 of Bryant, lost her courageous, 27 year battle with cancer with her family by her side on June 23, 2017. She was born on May 9, 1950 to Horace and Mary Ann Rutherford in St. Petersburg Florida. Dianne was a loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, aunt and the best Mawmaw anyone could ask for. In her later years she just wanted to be surrounded by her family, especially her husband of 50 years. No matter how bad she felt she wanted her children and grandchildren close. Holidays and birthdays were her favorite times and she would plan way in advance for each one. You could often find her and her gandchildren eating at Larry’s Pizza, playing board games and having sleep-overs. She was the laundry queen and because of that , during her healthier years, people would frequently ask about any yard-sales she may have been having. Jaqueline retired from her position as court clerk after 27 years with the Bryant District Court. When she was well and able she served in many groups of the church from the children’s to youth group as well as many others. She loved her Lord and always raised her family in church. She is preceded in death by her father, Horace Rutherford. Robert Harrell “Bob” Gafford passed peacefully on June 28, 2017. He is loved dearly by many, and was known as daddy and papaw to his family. He was born to the late, Willie and Annie Gafford in Clinton, Kentucky on August 11, 1932. He was an Army Veteran with two tours in Korea and Vietnam who led an eventful and courageous life. Those he left behind to honor his life will remember his funny, arm wrestling, dancing and generous soul. Bob was fortunate enough to find love and honor with his wife, Shirley. Married in 1996, they formed a caring and faithful relationship. Although we all know he could be an ornery man at times, Shirley knew his gentle side and loved him through his stubborn ways. The love they had was compassionate and tender. She will undoubtedly miss her beloved Bob. Brenda was a strong woman who spent her life devoted to her family. She was a rock for her children, grandchildren and siblings. Brenda and her partner, Acie, enjoyed camping and spent many hours visiting with family and friends along the shore of Lake Catherine. Brenda’s love, life and laughter will be missed by all. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Homer Pierce Jr.; and her brother, Bill Johnson. Carolyn Fiser, 84, died Sunday, July 2, 2017. She was born in Marshall, Arkansas to James Grant and Rue Ashley. She was a devoted teacher for 42 years and touched the lives of so many. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; James (Bud) Fiser, and sister; Joyce Beene. Eutha Bishop Scott, 83, of Benton passed away Monday, July 3, 2017. She was born on May 5, 1934 to Ted and Sarah Boggan in Griffithville, Arkansas. Eutha graduated from Griffithville High School and worked as a secretary in law offices before moving to the construction business. She was a long standing member of Women in Construction, serving as their regional director, mentoring too many in the construction industry. She and her late husband, Jack Scott, owned Champion Builders until her death. Eutha was a member of Highland Valley United Methodist Church. Eutha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son; Rick Bishop, and daughter; Julie Bishop. She leaves behind, two children; Doug (Carol) Bishop, Ted (Becky) Bishop, daughter-in-law; Kathy Bishop, and eight grandchildren. Clinton R. Dickman, 95 of Benton, formerly of Rogers, passed away on Wednesday June 28, 2017 at Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House, Bryant. He was born January 8, 1922 in Wells, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Jacqueline in 2010. He is survived by his four children, Scott Dickman of Minneapolis, MN, Kit Dickman (Ellen) of Paso Robles, CA, Anita Corbell (Jack) of Johnson City, TX and Cheryl Stewart (Michael) of Benton, AR. Seven grandchildren, Shannon Pickard (Thaddeus), Megan Barnard (Colorado), Mallory Dickman, Arron Stewart (Ainsley), Laura Stewart, Morgan Corbell (fiance’ Preston) and Brittany Corbell (fiance’ Marco) and eleven great grandchildren. He served State side during WWII and was discharged from the Army in 1945. He returned to Mankoto, MN with his new wife, Jacqueline. He worked for the Post Office for 30 years before retiring in 1971 to move to Rogers and work for Cooper Communities until his retirement.
